Just a quick question about the 5x5 programme. Do you increase the weight on your lifts every session or ever week?

Depends on which 5x5 your doing as some say increase the weight a small bit each session others say have one light day, one medium day and one all out day and try increase the all out day when you can finish all 5 sets. Personally I go by how I'm feeling on the day.

I'd increase it slightly each workout until I can't go on, then drop the weight a bit and build it back up slowly. Currently I increase deadlifts by 2.5kg each workout, and when I can't get the full 5x5 a few days in a row I drop it back 15kg, and I scale other workouts according (2.5kg every other workout on overhead press for example, with a 7.5kg de-load).

For me it's Day 1 100%, Day 2 80% and Day 3 90%. If I get 5x5 on my max day the following week I'll increase the lift by 2.5kg.

Another thing, 100% day I take 60 secs rest between sets, 80% day I take 30 secs rest and 90% day I take 45 secs rest. I presume this is standard enough?

I used to increase the weight every workout. Only the least amount possible mind (2.5kg). Over the space of about 6 weeks, my squat went from 70kg to 120kg. So try not to jump the gun, and take it easy. You'll get there eventually. :D
