Red Bull Cola

Anyone else addicted to this stuff? And I'm worried that the word "addicted" might be quite literal. The all-natural ingredients of Red Bull Cola happen to include the Coca leaf, ie the source ingredient for Cocaine if I'm not mistaken. There's certainly a buzz off it..

It's expensive in House 6 though.. speaking of which, the grumpy lady at the café till in the Arts Block tried to charge me for a disposable plastic knife*. Grr.

    * I just stole a wooden coffee stirrer instead. I was using it to spread Swedish mjukost on some bread that I'd snatched in my mad dash to make it to a 9am lecture after getting out of bed at 8.20

That stuff is horribly bad for you and you shouldn't drink it in large quantities. Never drink it while working out or doing something which dehydrates you.

Baza, stop being abstract, back in the box.

I'm bored. I miss the days - in which I did not participate - where dates for crash were found.

Anyway, yeah, never drink a carbonated drink before/during exercise.

I think ive been on the internet long enough, to know what you meant, am i on it long enough not to take the piss from time to time, no *shakes head*

anyway red bull cola, in theory, should be nice, seeing as its so freakin expensive, but it really isnt. that said, red bull is mindlessly over priced and not nice either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,699 ✭✭✭Brian

It's cheap enough compared to Red Bull, in Tesco it's 1.49 vs 1.09 [a lot to an Engineer]. But still expensive, I agree. 85c for a 1000cc carton of Rio D'Or Pure Apple Juice From Concentrate from Aldi is much better value.

You can buy Tesco "Kick Energy Drink" which is less than 1/2 the price than a can of red bull, still not nice, but caffine is nice :)

I used to drink BPM Red Berry just because of its nasty taste. So horribly synthetic that it's nice. It's pretty potent stuff too, I remember the first time I opened a bottle my eyes actually bulged in alertness from merely inhaling the fumes escaping from the bottle.

Damn right. And unless you can compete with a girl that sends me text messages saying "sudo go to sleep at a reasonable hour" and calculates how fast her bus-up-to-Dublin-to-see-me is going by using her phone's stopwatch and a calculator in conjunction with the Exit Approaching 3/2/100m signs on the motorway THEN YOU NEVER WILL.

Never will what? I don't know. But you probably got lost in that last sentence. Say hello to James Joyce if you see him in there.

I don't know if this thread is actually a symptom of drinking RBC. Probably :(

Treated someone recently who had drunk 4.5 liters of the stuff.
Is messes with your body (not in a cool/trippy way)

Had to put her on O2 and everything... not fun..

Turned me further of those sort of drinks than I was... admittedly, 4.5litres is a serious overdose, and clearly a bottle/can wouldnt do any harm.. but still... I've always had a thing against energy drinks..

Cork, sort of. If you'd come to Beers you'd know : P

And I've already given her a TCD Hoodie, which may result in her eventual lynching as she walks around the UCC campus.

Hmm, I'm not really fond of alieny sci-fi. It's part of the reason I liked Firefly. And part of the reason I don't like Halo / Gears of War.

I'm going to bed anyway, night.

Edit: I mean, I've been in bed on my laptop the whole time. I'm going to sleep.

See, I always figure excessive consumption of energy drinks defeats the purpose, as your system adjusts to them pretty fast. so if you're drinking them all the time, when it comes to crunch time you really don't get the kick in the bollocks you need. So i reserve redbull for hours of need, and boozing.

Someone pointed out to me a very interesting thing about vodka + coke, jagerbombs etc.
The alcohol part of it slows down your heart, and the sugary part of it speeds it up. Which is bad for you, I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,488 ✭✭✭mathew

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,699 ✭✭✭Brian

Good choice. I do think it tastes nice though. In small amounts, anyway. By the time you get to the end of the can it's pretty mediocre, but the first mouthful's quite good.

    - with appropriate thanks to Stargal for linking to it waaaaay back when.

Topic: This glorious elixir of the gods was just about the only thing that kept me going through Freshers' Week (well, it, pancakes and bolognaisse sauce...not all at once though). Still have a load of it sitting under my kitchen sink. It doesn't taste as bad as regular Red Bull and it keeps you buzzing for a suitable amount of time; can't fault it, really. (except for, like, the massive health damage and such)
    Marshy wrote:

Totally agree with the vodka part. I'm vaguely intrigued by the Malibu, but I'm not really allowed to drink rum after The Incident...and The Second Incident.

I have a similar problem with the auld red bull coca meself. I started a topic on it in after hours a while back but it was locked and I was banned, obviously they couldn't handle it at the time. Some shops sell it at 89c. Some Londises that is, others sell 4 cans in a cardboard container for 2 euros.

It's also a nice shape so you can hold it easily.

    That's what she said

You were banned due to drinking RBC?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,629 ✭✭✭raah!

no no, I was banned for making a topic about how fond I was of the stuff. I made the topic after getting a free one in cork city one time with a leaflet on all the stuff in it aswell. It caused a scandal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,699 ✭✭✭Brian

I knew it was dangerous stuff.

Red Bull Cola does taste great, that is for sure. I have always liked the regular energy drinks, but never drank them too often because of their ingredients. The new Monavie EMV Energy drink is what I have been drinking lately, as it's all natural. It does have sugar in it, but it's natural from it's ingredients.
