I'm thinking of getting one.Aside from variety would they offer any advantage over reverse crunches?

Get one. They are only 10 quid in Argos. I have two of them, one at home and one at work :) I sometimes spend 10 minutes of my lunch break doing rollouts, can do 4 reps of the standing rollout now. Some colleagues (most of whom are big into cardio exercise) saw me doing them and were keen to try the kneeling rollout. They all failed miserably and nearly ****ed up their backs in the process despite me warning them about form beforehand
