    Hey,

I have been taking whey protein for the last year and a bit. Going to the gym 3 times a week for weights sessions. My question is after i take the protein i have to go to the toilet loads. From what i read this seems to be that my body doesnt need it or cant process it so just gets rid of it. I have been taking it usually in the evenings when i get home from work after going to the gym at lunchtime. I see a lot of people take them 3 times a day but i would never be out of the toilet if i did that :) Took it today straight after my session today and the same is happening again.

Is the protein doing anything or should i stop taking it?

what brand of protein are you using, you might try taking a banana with it for the fiber content

You might be lactose intolerant. Doesn't sound right anyway. Do you have any trouble with milk?

I'd suggest you try a whey isolate as a start, or switch to a different source of protein.

It is pro x whey protein. I only take half a scoop.

I have never had any problems with milk. Have always drank lots of milk and ate cheese.

I would probably go to the toilet a lot more than the average person anyway during the day. But i do drink a good bit of water. A couple of years ago i did go to the doc as i thought that I may be diabetic as i was tending to go to the toilet a lot(like with the protein) when i drank a bottle of 7up or whatever. But got tested and doc said i wasnt. Dont really drink fizzy drinks anymore cos i want to get fit. Used to also get a bit of a slagging for having a bladder the size of a pea when i was out drinking beer. But everyones bladder tends to get a bit fecked when on the booze :)

Have to say Im fairly 'regular' shall we say when i take protein but im sure its working too,it may just be the by products your getting rid of,your body may be using the protein and just getting rid of it,im much the same but ive gained mass by taking protein not lost any.Your doctor shoudl be able to tell from a urine test if you are using it or ridding it from your body

I have bulked up a good bit since i have been hitting the gym a lot more over the last few months. I try to get protein into every small meal aswell(seeds, nuts, eggs, chicken, tuna) so dont know if it is just the protein from the food that helping of the whey. Might get a doc to check it out.

Might try the isolate aswell. Anyone any suggestions on what whey protein isolate would be good to try and where to get it?

    Hang on you mean pissing?

It's just all the liquid, nothing to do with the protein. I think everyone presumed it was giving you the trots. You say you drink alot of water, maybe too much?

    /waits for water nazi's

If you're drinking loads of water and pissing clear then you're wasting your time it's going straight through you. Despite what you may have heard you can only be hydrated up to a certain point and if you end up drinking 4 litres a day you're only healthier if you've to climb the stairs on your repeated trips to the can.

I'd imagine in your case you're probably fully hyrated knocking back the shake therefore you're gonna piss out the extra water, not the protein though.

yeh pissing is what i meant. It happens to me whether i have been drinking water or not. I would never drink more than 2 litres a day and most days i dont cos i dont want to be running to the toilet all the time in work so i dont think it has anything to do with the water.

Most times i take it in the evenings when i havent drank any water for a while and then i will piss clear every 15 mins for around an hour. That cant be right?

If you piss clear you drank too much. Unless it's some weird medical thing. Which it probably isn't. Maybe only drink water when you're thirsty and see how you get on?
