    heres the original conversation

    http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=vFC9jv9jfoA

trying to find info to clear this up? is there only 2 people in the business he wants to buy or or more?

it doesn't seem even mccain main point was true at all, he wouldn't get taxed more.
    http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/10/joe-the-plumber.html

    heres one interview

    http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/10/joe-the-plumber.html

it seems he doesn't know what taxes are for. maybe he should educate himself.

he doesn't under stand graduated taxes and
what pays for infrastructure, education defense, whats gonna pay for all those wars his republicans heroes want to fight.

at one point he says he ackowledges the need for taxes and the next minute suggest any taxes=socialism, well joe plumbering mr taxing mccain.

obama said his health care plan would see being better able to afford to pay for any future his employere.

250,000 seems a lot to me , and he only get taxed 3% more on what he makes after that.

is he suggesting he should taxed as much as a waitress?

there seems to be threee levels of tax, he should be glad he' not in the even higher one.

    heres fact check
    http://money.cnn.com/2008/10/15/smallbusiness/small_biz_taxes_factcheck.smb/index.htm?postversion=2008101611

there no way this guy would ever vote democrat out of pure ignorance. nobody works as hard as him, he bitching about himself.

at the end of the day he is going to get a tax cut under obama next year

Joe the plumber is in league with Paddy the plasterer. Both of them are minions of Mr. Bun the baker who is the leader of the tradesmen's illuminati who secretly run the world.

Joe doesn't seem to realise that the US economy is going down the toilet and if it does, his plumbing business will go down with it.

The US media lap this crap up. If McCain bumped into 'Emma the economist' on his rounds and she questioned his policies, they'd never show it, because Joe the plumber wouldn't have a clue what she was on about.

joe the plumber is a gimick used by fox news ( gop ) to present obama as elitist and not in touch with the average blue collar worker which is ironic as in reality fox news ( gop) could care less about this demographic

oops i know what i did there , i baschically told everyone something they already know

"joe the plumber is a gimick"

Joe the plumber is a real person though:

    16plumber.190.jpg

He looks like the T-2000 without hair.

edit: by the way I dont think Joe has much to complain about anyway. For what he may lose in taxes over the next 4 years he has certainly tripled up in business reputation.

Joe the Plumber is a campaign ploy, which was delivered poorly during McCain's part of the debate, sounding sophomoric and canned, but developed in campaign advertising after, intended to appeal to Joe Six-Pack.

Just heard on the radio news that the real Joe the Plumber has two government leans against him for unpaid back taxes. The news reporter also said that Joe the Plumber was getting more air time today than the Iraq War.

Are you referring to behind-the-scenes Karl Rove, who more than likely is orchestrating the McCain-Palin campaign and Joe the Plumber, as well as Ayers the Weatherman? John Kerry referred to Karl Rove's swiftboat tactics when he spoke during the 2008 Democratic convention held in Colorado.

McCains campaign is being run by Rove protege Steve Schmidt who is organising the negative campaign ads attacking Obama, he learnt all his tricks from the political prince of darkness karl rove.

Its impossible to say whether Joe the Plumber is a plant but it was awfully convenient that McCain had him to base attacks on Obama on during the debate. The Swiftboat Veterans for "truth" campaign was one of the most disgusting and pernicious political campaigns ever seen in american politics, the Joe the Plumber thing seems far more ham-fisted.

Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.

    http://www.eisenstadtgroup.com/2008/10/15/joe-the-plumber-wurzelbacher-related-to-charles-keating-oops/

Hmmmm, I wonder how credible this info is. Anyone got verification?

joe has been told to fear socialism and communism, disconnected from any logic he tries to apply to it, he says he's sacred of obama policies, it just an excuse to evade laws and responsibilties. while he blmaes his lazy neighbours, republicans have no empathy.

Joe the Plumber is absurd! Not only that, his first name is Sam not Joe. He never did the required plumbing apprenticeship, failed to get a plumbing or contractor license, failed to join the union (a requirement for working as an employee of a Ohio business), and has failed to pay his Ohio taxes since January 2007, resulting in Ohio placing a lean on his property (and this is the second time he failed to pay his state taxes). What a model citizen for the Republicans and John McCain to parade about the nation as their exemplar!

And it's an absolute total joke that this non-tax paying citizen would have to worry about buying a plumbing business that's worth more than a quarter million dollars! This is so typical of the McCain-Palin campaign. They didn't bother to vet their model citizen, so the web is doing it for them, and what a sham this has turned out to be. Why am I not surprised that the so-called Sam Joe the Plumber voted Republican, too?

I just cannot wait to see how the Republican campaign will spin Sam Joe to where he becomes one of the most qualified plumbers in the USA.

Unlikely if you read the link Bobbyjoe posted. Joe Sam the unregistered plumber wouldn't make the limit that would penalize him. Also he is a card carrying Republican. Lastly he wouldn't be able to afford to buy the business he claims as he doesn't have the money to do so.

Not so sure about the last bit. Very much depends on what the assets of the company are which could be used as collaterol. Don't tell me you've never borrowed money to make a purchase.

but how many americans are going to find out these facts about him? Most of em are just going to see the sound bites.

Personally, I'm convinced that the GOP's 'Joe the plumber,' tactics combined with Obama's idiotic 'Spread the wealth,' comment are enough to win Mccain the pres.

Better people then me have done a synopsis of him already. He doesn't own the company, he said he plans to buy it. But based on his tax returns, etc (owes taxes btw) he doesn't have the funds to apply for a loan that would cover the amount required to buy the business.

Even if he was through some freak of nature that his business makes $250K profits he only needs to reinvest some of that to bypass Obamas tax plans.

The more I read about him, the more it seems like he is a plant.

"Joe Wurzelbacher, of Ohio, was thrown into the spotlight after he was used by John McCain as an example of who might suffer under Barack Obama's tax plans.
But it now emerges he is not a licensed plumber and owes $1,200 in back taxes.
...#However, a bit of media digging has uncovered that Mr Wurzelbacher's first name is actually Samuel and he does not have a plumber's licence, although the company he works for does.
According to Tony Herrera, of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 50 in Toledo, Ohio, Mr Wurzelbacher cannot practise in Toledo without a licence - although he can work for someone with a master's licence or in outlying areas that do not require a licence.
According to local court records, Mr Wurzelbacher also owes the state of Ohio $1,182.98 in personal income tax.
Mr Wurzelbacher acknowledged he did not have a plumber's licence and admitted in one interview he was "not even close" to earning $250,000."

What an attention-seeking media-whore. He could probably get a good job in LA. Let's see which TV show he appears in first as a cameo.

I agree. The more you read about it, the more cack-handed it seems. It adds to the list of cack-handed things that McCain has done (choosing Sarah Palin, cancelling/not cancelling the campaign and picking this guy as an example of an average American, when, if he expects to make more than 250,000, makes him anything but average).

Not Joe the Not Plumber will have done kinda well outta all of this, ppl are wondering if it's all tactics, i think if it was, they'd have found someone more bona fide instead.

I keep laughing to myself at the fact that McCain want's to call the guy but figures he's been flooded with calls.....flooded....plumber....geddit? no? erm....oh well......

You really expect Sam Joe the (unlicensed) Plumber to have the credit rating to where a bank will assume the risk and give him a half-million dollar loan, especially with the economic meltdown, and so many banks failing due to poor loan portfolios?

The average Sam Joe-Six-Pack with a lean against him by the State of Ohio for not paying 2007 taxes would not get such a loan! Especially with a record of not paying your taxes (this is the second time that Sam Joe the unlicensed plumber was recorded as not paying his taxes).

Oh, I have a solution... Perhaps the Republicans will pay his outstanding 2007 taxes? Then perhaps a Republican bank executive will be given assurances that the party will assume the risk in case Sam Joe fails, given how important his story is to their campaign?

I wonder if the joke on Jay Leno last night had some merit hidden behind the humour? A G.W. Bush look-a-like was asked if Joe the Plumber was a plant? Bush answered that Joe was not a plant, he was a human.:D

Call me cynical, but I don't think he's a plant.

My guess is that he's a regular Joe (all puns intended) who made a comment at one of these political circuses they call election rallies which was seized on by the strategists.

I'd go further and guess that he's a Republican supporter who votes Republican, but who had the misfortune to try and offer a reason other than "because I'm a Republican".

Seriously...I'd expect that something the strategists would come up with to withstand a little more scrutiny.

There have been many questionable things that have come out of both campaigns over the past few weeks, but could this be true? Or is it a stunt by bloggers to do their own campaign spin?

"Joe the Plumber, the star of tonight's debate, may have a very interesting connection to John McCain. In fact, Joe the Plumber (Joe Wurzelbacher) of Cincinnati, Ohio may be related to one Robert Wurzelbacher of Cincinnati, Ohio, who happens to be Charles Keating's son-in-law. Robert Wurzelbacher was implicated in the Keating 5 scandal, and sentenced to 40 months in prison in 1993. Wurzelbacher is also a huge Republican donor."

Last night, Sarah Palin said she didn't want to talk about Wurzelbacher. "I begged our speechwriters, 'Don't make me say Joe the Plumber, please, in any speeches," she said. After failing to properly vet Wurzelbacher's situation, the McCain campaign is apparently now throwing him overboard and moving on.

The campaign is holding a conference call today with Russ Deker, an individual the McCain camp is calling "a Missouri 'Joe the Plumber.'"

Oh yeah - i read about that around the time but had since forgotten. The WSJ was always pretty Republican-leaning i think (like many in the financial world), but this economist dude was unreal!

The more McCain slides, the more Fox seems to be ratcheting up the negative reporting on Obama. They've been running a scintillating piece of 'investigative journalism' the last day or two called "Barack Obama: Ties that bind?" - lol, no prizes for guessing what that's about

Apparently there is some curiousity as to why Toledo PD, The Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency and an account assigned to the State AG's IT Department had had a look at Joe's file just after the debate.

    1) His name is not Joe. That is his middle name.

Oh and apparently he is thinking of running for Congress. Only in America...
