    Hi guys
Would like some advice, I have a treadmill at home and actually like using it. I go through phases but my general use is for 40 mins 4-5 times a week. I also walk to and from work which is 3Km each way every day.
I am trying to loose weight and want to know should I keep a steady for certain amount of time and speed it up/what should the intervals be?

I also notice when I stop using it for may a week or so I put on weight very quickly which is very frustrating as I still walk to work.

    What am I doing wrong??

    Thanks

What is your diet like? Post a typical day.

    Age / weight / height / sex?

    Hi

I am 34 female, 5ft 4. I don't weigh myself but could possibly do with loosing 1.5 stones but am lucky as my extra weight is in all the right places.

My diet is quite good, I could possibly eat more protein but generally I would watch what I eat. I don't eat very large quanities except weekends!!

It's a bit tricky knowing how much weight you need to lose if you don't know you're present weight! How are you going to track your progress? Also as Bossarky says you need to give details of what you eat in a typical day.

Some people's idea of a good diet can be pretty strange.

Its funny, but sometimes you dont actually realise what you are eating till you go to the trouble of writing it down. You can forget small things that make a difference to your total calorie intake for the day. So even if you didnt want to post it here, its an interesting exercise for you to record precisely everything you eat for a few days.

Also what you are eating is very important. Your mix of carbs/protein/fats.

    Thanks guys
Thats a very good point, I think most people probably think they eat quite well including myself when we don't notice the treat here and there.

I will write down what I eat and see what that shows and maybe thats the answer to all my questions.

Maybe I'm one of those people who thinks the odd treat is fine as I will be working out but I am obviously not at a point yet where that can be done.

the odd treat is defo allowed but a lot of people can only get away with treats if their exercise program is up to speed ... normally if you are very active that will allow plenty room for treats ... You mention in your original post that you sometimes stop using the treadmill for a week, and this causes weight gain .. Why do you need to take a whole week off? IMO if you exercise consistantly you will see better results that a week on / off ...

    Hi
I probably thought I could get away with no workout as I walk in and out of work at a very fast pace and this is over 6km altogether. Maybe my body has got used to this and the treadmill is the extra push I need.

I should have probably said in my first post that a few years ago I had a thyroid problem and I had put on about 3.5 stone at my worse as my metabolism came to a standstill as I was not allowed excercise at the time (my mid 20s).

I do know when I started my job here 4 years ago I was a size 18 and am now a 14. Maybe some people have a point where they can't go any further and think that this maybe mine.

I am very proud I got to this size from where I started thanks to walking and buying the treadmill around the same time.

Maybe I should just up the anti and see how far that gets me
