Wrist Injury - What exercises?

I sprained my wrist badly about 3 weeks ago. Up to that point I was weight training 3 times per week and making amazing progress. In the last 3 weeks it has been quite depressing that I haven't been able to lift anything.

I was wondering if anybody had a similar injury and has any tips on how to work the core muscle groups without using my wrist. I know alot of people will advise to rest but I am a very active person. I go for runs now fairly often but lately I've been hitting the beer fairly hard (relationship issues but that's another kettle of fish). My wrist is still quite sore and I can't even do a press up. If I could get back into a routine again of exercise/lifting then it would make me feel better.

    Cheers

Before you go any further, and I realise there are personal issues, "hitting the beer fairly hard" will only make it more difficult when your wrist heals.

you can do leg exerscies, bodyweight squats, leg extensions, leg curls, and then swimming.

but be careful with your wrist, you dont want to make it worse.

hitting the beer wont help regardless, and as the wrist isnt up to working out, maybe you should look into a holiday?

I messed up one of my shoulders last year. Not much of a runner (running is for convicts IMO), so I mixed things like sprinting, bodyweight squats, lunges, bulgarians, box jumps into circuits. You could add situps, back extensions, and plank holds too. You can make this as challenging as you want.

In terms of heavy lifting, leg press and leg curl for lower body don't need any wrist involvement, either. If you keep training your legs fairly heavy at least you'll get the benefit of the hormonal response to training which may help you retain muscle elsewhere while you can't train. You might be able to manage Zercher squats with your wrist injury, if it's comfortable (Zerchers are like a front squat but bar is held in the crook of your elbows - obviously, use weight quite a bit lighter than your usual squats).

Diagnosis of injuries may only be done by medical professionals, not intarweb strangers.
