Does anyone else find those supervising the exams rude and always talking to each other while an exam is on? It's really unfair. Happened me twice.

Complain either to one of the senior invigilators or to SAA, only way anything will get done!

2 more to go *sigh* screwed for tomorrow's..

Anyway..anyone know what was going on yesterday evening at the first bus stop after the east gate? I passed there on a bus and there was an empty bus parked in the bus stop with an ambulance outside it and a garda van behind it. Just wondering what happened, it didn't look to be too serious at the time I passed it?

Also, whats the marquee on the green outside Plassey House for? I was thinking Party on the Plaza but that's another 2 weeks away..and the fact that that's not the plaza :p

Not sure exactly but passed it twice yesterday and there was a girl on the ground in front of the bus and a nurse in a car had pulled over and was looking at her with the bus driver and the gardas looking on which made it look like the girl had either collapsed and the bus driver found her or she got hit by the bus.

She was getting off the bus at that stop and she was on crutches and as far as I could see she fell off the step from the bus stop down to the road, I hope she was ok. The bus wasn't moving when she fell so it wasn't the bus but she was on crutches.

Aw okay, hopefully it wasn't too serious for the poor girl.

That must've been it marno21, I passed there around 4:30 so that'd make sense.

Well, looks like I spoke too soon about getting school placement. I went into them yesterday because an email I had received was contradicting itself, so wanted to know what the story was. Ended up speaking to one of the placement officers, she was lovely. We went through the nearest towns etc., and I was able to add one additional town to the list. I was also given permission to contact a school to see if they would take me. Contacted that school, principal said they'd take me on no bother. Relayed this information back to the SP office. Received an email this morning saying that I can't actually be placed in that school until they contact the school in the additional town. FFS! -.-

What makes it worse is that 99% of people have been placed as of May 1st and I still don't know where I'm going.

If it's any consolation, I got placed about this time last year for Coop.. :)

Anyone know what the story is with all the teddy bears downstairs in CSIS?

The thing about TP is that its so much easier to organise (IMO) as there's no interviews involved. You ring up a school, ask do they want a science/pe/engineering/woodwork teacher, they say yes, you're sorted. They've had my list of towns since October :/ It's all just a heap of unnecessary stress.

To be honest what you described to us there before seems like protocol madness. You have found a place for yourself and still they're reluctant to let you go until they've tried their way first.
It seems like they haven't even contacted the school yet? Surely it's easier for them as well to say 'you've found a school? Great! Just pass on details and we'll make it official.'
Actually I tried to go through the Coop office to try and find me a job in vicinity of where I lived as my teaching jig was only half a semester really.
I tried for 3 weeks before I told them not to bother any more and that I'd find somewhere myself. In the end they let me do online journalism as half my Coop which was top as I didn't have to leave home and since it was a sports website, watching World Cup matches were mandatory :D

I have a friend who graduated from one of the Teaching Courses (Metalwork) a couple of years ago and he wasn't placed until feckin' late August. This was despite having found himself a school willing to take him, which the TP office wouldn't let him go to, but wouldn't tell him why (other students were placed there for a different course).

Is the SAA open on Saturday? Have to get a form and I can't really be bothered to go to college to get it until Saturday when I have an exam in the morning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 619 ✭✭✭iLaura

From what I've been told, they need to exhaust the list of towns I put down, and then any additional towns, before going with the school I have contacted. They need to get approval from the EPS department for it as well, so that's probably why they're reluctant to let me just go to that school.
I can't imagine how horrible it would be to only find out my school in August. I'd be ringing them everyday if they didn't find placement for me until that late.

They'll be open to print student cards for those that have lost them anyway.

Think it's a study month kinda thing here, similar to UCC.
Hate to have to do exams UCC style though.
All exams from both semesters at end of year.
    I struggle with 4/5 I have.. :P
