I remember someone giving a speech in first year saying UL was the best university in Ireland.

That has since been proven wrong again, and again, and again. Sulis is down (every year without fail), the administration is lazy and feckless, and the library is fit for about a handful of students.

And I hope one of you prowlers read this. I cannot wait to leave.

Edit: Now that's what I call a bitch! :pac:

I'm stressed enough as it is without Sulis not working. WHY???!!!

It amuses me that people never learn the "SULIS WILL GO DOWN" lesson. You need to learn how to work around ITD in UL, not rely on it!

Submitted an assignment on SULIS back in April. Got an email yesterday saying "Oi! You haven't submitted the assignment. If you don't submit today, you'll have to repeat in August."...

It should end up being fine, but it's annoying not knowing what grade I got in that assignment before the exam, since there's the potential for the exam to have 2 questions relating to it...

Now you know that when its back working that you should download everything on SULIS for the rest of your exams :P

Every time it goes down I say that, next time, I will definitely do this.

    Do I? Course not :pac:

Yes, imagine relying on the key services of an institute that declares itself the best in Ireland and makes sure we know about every award it has won.

A university whose IT structure has declined every year since I arrived in 2011.

It hasn't got better but it hasn't been declining every year either.

You know what's more annoying than people leaving their stuff at a desk in the library and going off somewhere?

People who come into the library when its busy and take up a desk to play games on their laptops with a really loud computer mouse, especially when it is some sort of shooter game that involves clicking a lot!

Seriously this guy beside me has been at it for an hour now and its sooo annoying, especially as I've no headphones and there are people looking for seats to study in!

I know back in 1st year that for a virtual worlds module one of my friends was advised by her lecturer to start playing World of Warcraft to get an idea of how the world was set up and stuff :P So 'technically' he could be studying. Incredibly unlikely, especially since that project was due in like week 8 of first semester. But hey, he could use that as an excuse :P

I suppose that *could* be a reason but seeing as he's no books or anything with him cept his phone and laptop he could surely do it somewhere else and let someone else use the table.

I actually think the mouse annoys me most, really wish I hadn't left my headphones at home now :(

You can buy a pair of headphones in Spar for a fiver. The sound quality from them isnt the best though

I'm getting annoyed by the people who have taken it upon themselves to run around on the second floor -.-

He's still here. Went downstairs to print something and couldn't see him when I was walking back to my seat, got so excited because he has started breathing really heavily as well (SOO glad I got those headphones!!!) but his stuff is still here :(

You're the opposite of me and my friends, we're are the point of not caring about the exams and so arent stressed at all. They're all saying its cause they were on co op last semester, but for someone who had college last semester, I wasnt worried then and still am not now. Its weird how apathetic I am towards them

I really don't want to have any repeats :( For my next exam I don't know if I'm really really prepared for it or if I know nothing. It's SO broad and that is just stressing me out even more :P

Have you looked at past exam papers? The subject might be broad but the exam might have a narrow enough range.

It's different stuff covered every year unfortunately :(

It'll still tell you how to approach the subject material. Remember, you're in first year. You only have to pass.

My problem with my exams is that I was on TP last semester so it was this time last year when I last had exams and honestly can't remember how I used to study. Add to that the stress of REALLY not wanting any repeats or bad grades so I can actually graduate with my class I'm just stressed out with no idea what I'm doing!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 454 ✭✭LilRedDorcha

Never been more relaxed about exams in my life. Not sure if it's because they're (hopefully) my last ever exams or what! I think it's because I have a job lined up which doesn't depend on grades so I'm back to the "just have to pass" area :D Hope I can get some motivation though. I'd still like to do well.

You're assuming I haven't already, sitting back and waiting for all the work to be done, eating my one and a half sausage rolls for 5% share (we'll negotiate specifics later iLaura :P) then sell patenting rights and buy myself a ferry :)

Only 5%? As the brain child of this project (which I consider myself to be for some reason) I demand more! I mean, 1.5 sausage rolls is worth more than that.
