Just a update, I think the problem is with opendns, as using eircons own works fine:
    Primary DNS:
    213.94.190.194

    Secondary DNS:
    213.94.190.236

My opendns settings are saved on the router, too much stress to go changing em with other family online so I changed them on my pc, to change them on your machine, check THIS GUIDE if on vista, open network and sharing centre, view status of connection, click properties, should see same screen as linked

Edit: Change settings for Internet Protocol Version 4

I'm having these problems too, I've noticed it seems to be resolving IP addresses from America.

I spotted it about 2 days ago, and i presumed it was OpenDNS so switched back to eircoms DNS but still no joy. It's a pain in the ass is what it is!

Also on OpenDNS. Issues loading youtube.ie, Facebook and others.

Im having problems loading some sites also, id say its more to do with eircom than anything else

Ya it appears to be some kind of routing issue to certain networks. Seems to be primarily affecting US based sites.

Doesn't look like a DNS issue to me as the domains resolve to an IP but just have no connectivity. Traceroute is also showing some weird results. Definitely looks like some kind of intermittent peering issue between eircom and other networks. Very annoying I hope someone notices soon.

Seems OK for me now....but for how long?

EDIT: Never mind, as soon as I posted this my Youtube video stopped dead in the background.

Having the same problem for last two days. Why would this only affect certain sites such as Chud.com or thepropertypin.com and not others? It's very annoying, going to ring Eircom in the morning.

I dont know how anybody is still on eircon.

Same problem here. No issues with youtube that I've seen but lots of issues with apples Website and the playstation network. I'm using OpenDNS, has it been confirmed that this is an issue with Eircom and not with them?

Eircom. As using either opendns or eircoms one leads to same results

Seemed to have resolved at around 6:20 this morning. Might have been a fluke though.

rang eircom and big surprise they were of no help at all - they told me it was an issue with my browser settings even thou I pointed out I had tired using 3 different browsers [firefox, safrai and explorer] and I've also tired using both my iMac and my laptop and have the same results.

right rang eircom again - on hold forever but got through to a much nicer person who actually listened to me and didn't just tell me it was my problem. He checked something at his end and at the moment everything seems to be working again - shall see if it lasts.

Was just in work and it was working fine in there, They have an Eircom Business line. So it must only be home broadband customers being effected!, For now I have an SSH tunnel set through work and just using the net in there from home. Temp solution for me for now!

I had the same issue at the weekend. Couldnt access a site from home, a friend on NTL said it was working for him, and lo and behold it works fine in work here with a eircom business line.

RCGroups.com is working for me (Eircom using their DNS servers).

I am having the same problem lads.
I cant log into one site in particular, it was two sites, but now it is down to one, both are based in the US.
Anyone know what the next step is?
Is there a handy email address I could email eircom support to get it resolved (am in work)

I cant get to http://www.autodesk.com/ since the weekend either. Has anyone got a response from Eircom ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,013 ✭✭✭lynchie

Im getting some serious issues with connecting to US based sites. Constant pings show replies now and again but mostly timing out. Same sites work over both NTL and IBB, so its a definite Eircom problem. Im getting the same issue on Eircom home and business lines so its an Eircom network issue. And its not a DNS issue, using ip addresses for connecting..:mad:

Was having similar problems for the last two days.

Have just reset the router (Linksys) and problems have vanished - for now at least.

    Hope this helps.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,186 ✭✭✭Nichololas

You guys should try Web2.0 I've heard that's better.

But seriously; on Eircom using OpenDNS servers, haven't noticed this problem, although switching to OpenDNS did solve my problem of pages hanging for 20-30 seconds. :o

and the U.S. site(s) I couldn't get into for the past two days are now ok too ...... didn't change/do anything ...... started working ok approx an hour ago .......
