Win 2% of me for free....Boards Running Man contest

Taking a leaf out of Yuletired's book, I'm holding a contest to win 2% of me in my next major (500+ buyin) tournament, which depending on what state I get back from Korea in could either be the PP Winter Festival, a GUKPT event, the BrucePoker launch or the Fitz winter festival.

To have a chance of winning, all you have to do is guess how far I'll get, in kilometres, in the World 24 Hour Championships next weekend in Seoul. Nearest guess to the actual distance wins. In the event of a tie, person who posted first wins. In the event of a discrepancy between the distance I'm officially credited with and the distance I actually run (as there was last year), official distance counts for contest.

To allow you to make an educated guess, here's some pointers:

I've only run one of these before, last year's World Championships, when I covered a distance of 203.4 kilometres. I was badly injured for the last 6 hours and reduced to a slowish walk: but for that I would have made 220 or so.

World record is around 300 kilometres, Irish record 228.

Physiological testing (VO2max etc.) suggests my genetic limit is about 220 kilometres. Presumably at my peak, which I'm a bit past now (and one year more than last year).

Course looks tougher than last year (more sharp turns for one thing) and climate and pollution in Seoul may present more problems.

Injuries are very common in these events and it's not unusual for people to have to stop after 60, 80, 100 or whatever kms. Most of the course is concrete which makes injury even more likely.

I appear to be going into the race injury free, but I do have a cold which I'm hoping will have cleared by then, but past experience suggests reduced performance for about 2 weeks after a cold.

Course is in 920 metres loops. If I do drop out, it'll probably be after a certain number of laps, so there's a higher probability that distance will be an integer multiplied by .92.

I don't appear to be in quite as good shape as I was last year, and I am a year older.

I'm not on EPO or any other stimulant so there will be no chemically induced improvements.

OK, start guessing. Guesses must be in before I fly out on Tuesday morning because I may not have Web access over there.

    The official site is http://www.iau.org.tw/

Last year, they weren't great with their updates though, and friends at home told me they googled on the day and found an American site that had more frequent updates.

If all else fails, my club site http://www.rahenyshamrock.com/ will probably put updates sent to them in running from the Irish support team.

    Brian.

p.s if I dont win this, Can I buy 2% of you in the GJP Deepstack (you seem to love these long distance tests)

Holy **** how the hell do people run this far/ for so long. Given the tough conditions and the fact that ur degenerative gambling condition must have had an adverse effect on your athletics career over the last 12 months;), Im going to guess 130k. Wish you the very best of luck, hope you return in one piece

ill go for 7 Km, im hoping you pas a casino and/or Illicit house of ill repute in the first lap, that way you can only hold out for so long before you cave in.
