Thought it was awesome. The Susan/Mike thing was very cleverly done - he's not dead!!! Thank ****!!!

The scene with Danielle coming back and snatching Benjamin from Bree was so sad...

Wonder if there's any story with Lynette and Tom's other kids. Also Julie (Susan's daughter).

I hated the 5 year jump forward at the end of the last series but have to say enjoyed last night, maybe it was what was needed to shake things up a bit as it was getting a bit repetitive. Mind you, by the looks of things, we have yet another "stranger with dark secret" moving into Wisteria Lane, the scriptwriters obviously can't envisage a season without this plot device :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,588 ✭✭✭JP Liz

Neal McDonough is a great addition to the cast

So Edie is married to Dave (Neal McDonough) but whats his dark secret??
I kinda feel its related to Susan and Mike's car accident

BTW may i add James Denton aka Mike still very very hot :)

Yeah, he got through the 5 years without aging too much:P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,859 ✭✭✭✭Sharpshooter

l was thinking that maybe it was his wife and daughter that were killed in the accident and that he is out for revenge of some kind, by the way l know this is going to sound silly but is he able to ( for want of a better word ) hypnotise people.
The older man at the beginning really didn't want to sell his house, but then Dave starts saying over and over " you will sell " or something similar and the next thing the man is leaving and shaking Dave's hand.
Then there is the way Edie is changing her behaviour.
One minuet she is the old Edie and the next he only has to rest his hand on her and she turns into a stepford wife, l mean Edie baking muffins?
See l said it was probably silly.:o
He is a bit creepy, but l am loving every minuet.:D

He seems to have some sort of control over Edie cant wait to see what happens next.

Fast forwarding into the future is a rip off of one tree hills last season

I'm not sure if I like the new storylines... I'm still watching it though :D

Is Susan's new man Jackson also bating for other side????

I'm thinking he might be gay

Carlos and Gaby are still the best couple on the show

When will Karen McCluskey be made a series regular??? She is in nearly every episode and she is another of Wisteria Lane's Desperate Housewives

Umm other shows have done the jump of a few years before "One Tree Hill" so you can't claim it's just a rip-off of that. Offhand - "Battlestar Galactica" and before that "Alias".

Well the actor playing him was the lead in the U.S. version of "Queer as Folk" so maybe that's what you're picking up on, having maybe seen it somewhere before?

The guy who plays Jackson was also one of the main stars of the american version of Queer as Folk.

    Jackson
Jackson will emerge as the hero from the fire. He won't be one of the few to die

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

Very cleverly done the other night - of course people were going to assume initially that Dave was the husband/partner of the woman who was killed in the car crash, and the writers played on that nicely. They also bore in mind people thinking that was too obvious for Desperate Housewives so they threw in a red herring - Dave's brother who was killed in prison (Mike killed a guy in self defence while serving jail time)... only it turns out he IS that woman's widower.

Dave is a great character - quite complex.

He certainly is , Dudess , I am liking Dave :) and I really don't want to.:(

I wish Susan and Mike were back together , and hats off to the child actor that plays their son.

Oh, he is SO adorable! And a great little actor. Seeing his little look of concentration before dropping the bowling ball was the highlight of the episode! He acts Mike off the screen. Although Mike has been better this season.

Each to their own, I suppose, but I thought that episode was quite clever. Well developed, good writing, and a sweet performance from the perennially underrated Beau Bridges.

As far as season-fillers go, It served its purpose quite well, and it was nice to see
Mary Alice Young onscreen (not sure if spoilers are necessary, but I dont want some fanatic gunning for me if they've sky plussed it.
:D again, to give a little more insight into the characters.

What was it that made it bad?

Just asking. Im not a die hard fanatic by any means, but I thought that the writing and performances were the same if not higher than usual standards, and the background development was appropriate for a long running series. I wouldn't be surprised if Beau Bridges copped an Emmy nomination for his guest performance either.

I thought it was the best episode in a long time. I even blubbed during it - could have more to do with my current mood!!

I enjoy the programme but it's not on the top of my must see list. I think Gabby has been the best character this season, she's gotten some of the best one liners so far - usually at Carlos' expense. I've never been fond of Susan - I think Teri Hatcher is too much. Bree I can take or leave, same with Edie. Lynette is usually good.

Just watched episodes 12 (Connect, Connect!) and 13 (The Best Thing That Ever Could Have Happened) last night.

I'll confess that I thought the Eli episode (13) wasn't that bad actually. There were a few moments where I really felt for the character, to be honest, and I did find myself feeling a little sad towards the end of it. It could just be because it reminded me of someone I've lost, but I did feel a bit tearful at points during the episode.
When Mary Alice looked down and saw his shoe with the hole, I thought that was well done. Eli trying not to show that he was ashamed, and really desperate for some work, and Mary Alice realising it and trying not to show it either.

Overall I enjoyed both episodes. The Eli episode was clearly filler, but I thought it was enjoyable enough to be honest.
I didn't like the connection between Edie and Eli though, I thought that was a little bit of a stretch on the part of the writers, and thought they might have been better served showing her in a different light or something.

I really enjoyed the latest episode. I thought it was very heartfelt and very sad. The bit where Beau Bridges was looking at Mary Alices house after she died was really touching as was the bit where there was tons of people at his funeral.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,472 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

Pointless filler episode to be frank. There must have been a mini writers strike/go slow.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 301 ✭✭marie_85

I thought the last episode was lovely. Yes, it was saccharine and I did roll my eyes at the idea of an episode revolving around a character we'd never met, but they managed to pull it off quite well.

Gaby and Mary-Alice's segments were the best, I thought. Especially the bit with the shoe which had me in tears. I seriously could not believe I was crying over a character I'd never met before and never will again, but there you go!

For once Susan didn't annoy me and Teri Hatcher did a fantastic job with her grief over Mike. Bree and Lynette were both great as well, and I think Felicity Huffman is wasted on this show. Edie's segment was ridiculous and annoying, but wow... for a 45 year old woman, she has an incredible body.

There were some really sweet and funny moments in it. 'I will have this baby and then beat you with it' is a highlight, definitely. And I loved seeing Rex again, although I don't remember him being quite such a controlling husband.
