The Catch 22 is that avocados and nuts taste so good it's hard not to overeat them in the first place :o

Tell me about it !! I have no concept of a portion when it comes to nuts and peanut butter !

Either buy in very small bags, or split the pack into 25g portions as soon as you open it. I can eat a serious amount of nuts.

Mind you, last Christmas, I bought a 1kg of pistachios, ate them all over two days, and lost a pound.

Thing is the small bags cost a fortune compared to big ones. I demolish packs too. You can get portion dispensers on ebay like those dispenser things you put a coin and turn it, and out pops sweets or a toy in a ball. Would be a handy way of saving up money for something, having to put 2 euro in for a few nuts everyday, sort of like a swear jar.

Dunno about avocado. Tastes like grass (of the green, grows in a field variety) to me.

    Peanuts though. So dangerous.

Cottage cheese? Controversial. You'd want an aul chilli thrown in their as well though either way.

Yup, it thickens the guacamole and (along with the lime juice) stops it browning. I <3 my cottage cheese anyway though :o

    Home made brown bread
    Few slices of avocado
    Slice of tomato
    finely sliced chicken
little bit of mayo on top

mmm, cottage cheese in guacamole, that sounds interesting. I try to always keep a tub or two of cottage cheese in the fridge, it's very useful :)

    Omega-9 (Oleic Acid)
Essential but technically not an EFA, because the human body can manufacture a limited amount, provided essential EFAs are present.
Monounsaturated oleic acid lowers heart attack risk and arteriosclerosis, and aids in cancer prevention.

    Found in foods:
Olive oil (extra virgin or virgin), olives, avocados, almonds, peanuts, sesame oil, pecans, pistachio nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, etc.
One to two tablespoons of extra virgin or virgin olive oil per day should provide sufficient oleic acid for adults. However, the "time-released" effects of obtaining these nutrients from nuts and other whole foods is thought to be more beneficial than consuming the entire daily amount via a single oil dose.
