Ladies and gentlemen, submit your pictures!

Yes, we are almost in the middle of our interesting project. We have made few cruical decisions and we have found a willing, capable and naive book designer.

The final specifications of the book are:
Format: 8" x 10" landscape
Cover: by Fionn
Design - black with few lines of white text below with(out) white frame around pictures.

Technical specification:
The book is 8x10" landscape. The image size is approximately 9" wide and 6" tall. The maximal resolution is 300dpi. If you want to test if the picture fits or if it needs to be made smaller, please, feel free to download the software from the Blurb and test it on your own.

Information (not) required:
There are three text fields below the picture. Name of the Picture, Description and the Photographer's name. The longer name/description, the smaller font (than on other pages) would have to be used. KISS (Keep It Simple and Stupid) rule applies.

So, how to do the submission of the pictures? It's easy! Send me a PM and I will reply to you with all instructions :-)
And if you are curious why, I will answer it in very short way. By sending PM, I have a little more certanity who is sending the message under your nick. Simple, me thinks.

And order of the pictures in the book? Even more simple. The designer of the book can place her/his picture anywhere - it is her/his royal right. The other - in order how they delivered full and correct submision (file, name*, description*, author's name*).
* - if the field should be left empty, please, use *empty* (including stars)

So I think that that is enough of ThOndocracy for this time!

It might be an idea if we were to post a message in every thread linking back to this thread so that all involved will submit their photos soon?

and personally, I'm not so confident that every person on that list is going to submit photos... there's a lot of people who never ever post in the photography forum and think they may have agreed to having a photo in the book on a whim..

Shugar - I didn't increase the DPI on mine. Can I re-submit?

Sure, although it's not showing any problems with yours. 300 is the maximum needed.

I sent in two on my submission as I was unsure which to select. Hopefully this didn't cause you too much pain!

I had a pretty hard job picking a photo thanks to losing every picture I ever took in a domestic disaster in August. The only ones I have are the ones in my Flickr or ones I had printed

I hope I don't let you all down...

At least I have an excuse now to get out with my camera again.

I would say it's OK, hasn't thrown up any problems yet. However, that's the ratio we need, and there are problems if smaller images are submitted. The recommended dimensions are 2638 X 1884 at 300DPI.

been away a while and just catching up on whats been happening with the book. Think I should be somewhere near top of the list of replacements so am obviously not in whyulittle's list of names, but somehow do show up in this thread

I'm afraid the three of you could only be back ups to the back ups at this stage. That said, if people don't start getting their images in soon, there will be plenty of places free.

Majority of landscapes so far, but a good mixture of landscapes. Good mixture in the minority as well. I think they should be seen for the first time when you open the book.

Sorry I haven't got a photo in to you guys yet, I've been thrown by the insistence on landscape rather than portrait orientation and don't know what pic to submit.

However, I did take a few nice photos at a gig on Monday but I assume that without the artists permission they could not be submitted...

The book is landscape and so is majority of the pictures (I think). However I am personally thinking about a portrait.

About submissions of the pictures. There'll be last warning PM sent today to all who haven't asked for instructions. That would be sent to the people from the first list of 117 lucky ones.

If those 117 first ones won't submit their photos till midnight of 20.10.2008, people from the broader list will get the opportunity to submit their photo. And their pictures will get into the book accordingly to the time of the picture submission.

I know, it is not fair, however I will post the figure of free spaces about 9pm on 21.10. Those from the reserve list, who will send their pictures sooner won't be taken into consideration. Submissions will be valid only after the date and time of posting the invitation in this thread.

I hope that this does not seem to harsh or strict, but we shall keep some order here, especially getting closer to the dead line.

Yes, 2638 X 1884 at 300 DPI, no border or copyright watermark.

In the original post thonda says that the image size is approx 9x6, however when i go to resize my own image it says it's over 10'' wide.

Are we certain about those figures?

Oh, and i don't have any images that can be exactly 2638x1884, but i'm sure that's not a problem?

The book itself is 10 X 8. The image is going in at 8.8 X 6.3, which is the same ratio as 2638 X 1884. It doesn't have to be exactly 2638 X 1884, but say if it was 3000 X 1884, when it is put into the book, the image will have to be heavily cropped.

As for the copyright watermark, there is no need for it. Each person's name is going in on their page.
