good episode in fairness.but i just cant help to say:Claire,go home, just go home.her acting is terrible!!and peter,ya know, you can avoid get punched + stop sylar explode +save sylar's son by stopping time?or maybe consider the invisible ability to run away in the first place?

mohinder is a tribute to the fly lol but he is cooler,a
    cockroach?

lindermann existence is just bizarre.parkman showed us we can see the future by eating some 'sweet ball'(that's just brown sugar right?).why the hell hiro is in level2 cell,he has the most dangerous ability!did the doctor just told 'nicky' he did DNA manipulation like nothing surprise?a shock to me at least,or anyone knows abit of science basic.

the story is badly patched up together, how i miss the brilliantness of being a high quality sci-fi story.

Let me get this straight. Peter gets Sylar's ability because he fixed a watch. Does that mean anyone who can fix a watch can get Sylar's ability. Does it apply to fixing other things like cars or washing machines? We have someone coming over to fix our washing machine later in the week and I don't want him slicing my head open as I imagine it would hurt.

No it doesnt. Peter learns abilities but sometimes takes a while to understand them. Sylar began using his ability like that in season one and when peter absorbed his ability fixing the watch helped him understand it.

Was I the only person reminded of Homer Simpson when Parkman was following the turtle through the desert:D I was waiting for him to kick the turtle!

Ah I see. So as long as Peter hasn't decided to go into the washing machine repair business I should be ok.

Don't know about this episode. On one hand it seemed pretty cool,on the other hand they just took a ton of information and threw it all at us in such a short amount of time.

One question, how did future Peter die by being shot? Claire cannot die,Sylar took learned her power so he cannot die,Peter absorbed her power so then he shoud not be able to die, even with a bullet to the back of the head like Claire mentioned. I know the Haitain was around so his powers weren't working when he got shot, but once his powers are back he should heal, like when Claire had the branch in her head and Peter the glass in his head. They were technically dead but their powers kicked in later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,729 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

Claire's power I think is inherent. Peter's is empathic (see Season 1) and it requires him to think about how or from who he got it from for it to work. A shot to the back of the skull would top him from using his base ability and then all other abilities. They do seem to be flip-flopping on the issue though: Peter has had his head knocked in before.

Regarding Sylar's ability I think Peter needs to be exposed to a power - he didn't just take claire's power off the bat, iirc she had to heal at some point in Homecoming when Peter was nearby. Thats why when he had his past confrontations with Sylar he hasn't picked up other abilities like Freezing or Enhanced Hearing (which I think Sylar needs to think about to activate as well - would explain some gaffes)
Was I the only person reminded of Homer Simpson when Parkman was following the turtle through the desert I was waiting for him to kick the turtle!
Homer's Spirit Guide (also known as the Space Coyote) is an hallucinatory coyote who appears in the 1997 episode "El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer)".

Brilliant episode! Looks like Heroes is coming back, but not as slow as season 2!

I was trying to think of where I saw the turtle in the desert before. I should have know it was Homer!

So there's Nike, Tracy and Barbara, but no Jessica... Interesting.... Maybe back in season one in "4 Years gone", it was Future Peter and Barbara who were together, as Tracy is with Nathan.

It will be interesting to see how Peter and Sylar get on now....

And I wonder who the mother of Gabriel's son is? I'm gonna go for Ma Petrelli, just to mix things up a bit... :D

The Hatian was around when Claire shot future Peter so he wouldn't heal on the spot. They probably have something stuck in his brain to keep him dead.

I liked this episode except for the end, they're bringing back all the ones they "killed" off in the last season :/

Liked the episode, nothing much really to add to what's above.

Wonder what reforms Sylar between now and four years time? Given the kid is maybe 3-4, he must be about to change very soon (or the kid is adopted or some other such plot device). I'd guess Peter will learn to control "the hunger" and pass this on to Sylar, who is actually a perfectly well adjusted individual otherwise.

Well we are told Claire cant die at all,so presumably anyone with her power cant either. Peter had that huge piece of glass right in the back of his head, through his brain. Once removed,he healed. And looking at it again, future Peter wasn't even shot in the head. The Haitian was around so his powers didn't work, but once the Haitian left, future Peter should have woken up. He can also survive a nuclear blast which I'd imagine is a bit worse than a bullet to the head. Nitpicking perhaps, but this one just bugged me.

Maybe they shoved something in the back of his head when the haitian was around.

Meh, once again bad acting, bad time travel paradoxes, plot holes etc

the only good thing was sylar nuking the place

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,240 ✭✭✭hussey

    Things I noticed.

When Tracy was talking to the the doctor and showed him the picture, it looked like 'the german' we seen in the previous episode was there.
Also he talked about 3 girls, Tracy, Nicky & Barbara ... but in S1 Nicky's father said that Jessica died as a child .. so was there 4? or one name change?

I can understand how peter gets his scar now. when the Haitian is around he can die, does that mean when the Haitian is around claire/sylar can die too? (as makes them mortal)

Is it me or does Noah jnr look alot older than 4 years old?
and called Noah for a reason maybe??

Although the peter getting slyar's ability is a bit weird, maybe he just needs to understand it, as Sylar said it isn't just understanding it is a hunger for knowledge ... hunger that can lead to murder.

... it all seems very Dr Who/Heroes S1 .. leading up to the Big Bad wolf/linderman etc

I am gonna say Peter Petrelli's father still has a part to play in this.

    Great episode.

    P.s. i forgot MAYA ... HOLY MOLY

major plot holes and terrible acting. I think Heroes should have been left as a 1 season wonder rather then extend it with his rubbish.

Sylar told Claire she was "special", so her whatever it is about her probably can't be mimicked fully by the likes of Peter and Sylar. They can copy her healing ability but not her immortality.

Great episode, the battle in Sylar's house was brilliant, especially him going nuclear at the end.

Good ol' Maya. She looks so good this season that I've forgiven her for being such a useless character last season.

good ep. looks like heroes is back to it's best. A lot of info to take in, in one episode mind you. I'm a little bt confused though with all the to and froing to the future and back. A little like Lost season 4.

Good point, maybe to copy the power, you have to fully understand it like Sylar, not just mimic it like Peter. But now that Peter has Sylar's power, he should be able to understand Claire's power and gain immortality too. But future Peter was still dead after present Peter gained Sylar's power. Maybe the future wont change until present Peter leaves it?:confused:

Didn't the doctor also start a sentence with "When your birth parents died..." before Tracy cut him off? Maybe Jessica isn't a biological sister?

Actually another note, is when Claire Sliced peter around the Haitian, when the Haitian left and he regained his ability the wound .. but didn't

So i guess this is another hint that if wounded around the Haitian you are wounded like a mortal

This time travel stuff is a bítch to comprehend. I don't even think Sylar would understand it if he spent a few hours going through the writers brains.

It should have ended in season one with the nukes going off in New York instead of the lame season 1 ending. That would've killed off all the annoying characters and put a stop to the lame ass time travel storyline which has became a major element in the story of every season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,729 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

The time travel plot would have sounded any way better if it wasnt Peter explaining it. My god, his Whisper-Voice annoys the shyte out of me. Talk normal, dumbass.

    I was thinking that too!!!

Mediocre episode for me, still too many plot holes to fill, I fear the writers will have to get rid of the shovel and call in a JCB to fill them.

I was hoping for better really. The whole Peter healing thing annoys me a bit, but not as much as the fact that some people seem to be able to use their powers in the facility and others don't such as the blue fire guy near the end of the first episode. How does that work? Local dampeners? A haitian type in most cells?

I'll still watch it, but mostly in the hope that the future will change enough for Sylar or some other kind soul to kill parkman.

    Heroes is going downhill.

Future Peter - the most souped up hero.......get's shot........by Claire.
WTF? Hmm, how about present Peter goes back in time.."eh, watch out there"

Sylars and Peter get attacked. Whoa.

Peter can stop time, kick ass. Does he? Nope.
Peter sees Claire shoot his future self, yet he acts like a complete pussy around her.
Again, Peter could go back in time and change things..doesn't.

    But the biggest hole........
The biggest is that the company have located Peter and Sylar. In the same place.

They have the Haitian who can disable powers merely by being there.

    Where is he?

    Having a friggin Kit-Kat?

I wasn't too impressed with it either - the annoying thing with these "5 or 4 years later" episodes is that they are complete throwaways, in order to get all the ominous stuff that could happen out of the way and then the "real" timeline ends up going out on a whimper: just think of the image of the future "Five Years Gone" in Season 1 painted and then how Season 1 actually finished up...

I am curious about one thing though: Sylar's son Noah is definitely not random. So who's the mother? It couldn't be Claire age-wise... but not only is the kid named Noah, Sylar is living in the Bennets' old house and even has Mr.Muggles...

And the ending is again undoing pretty much most of Season 2 by having Hiro bring Kensei back, just like Sylar getting to Claire undid most of the point of Season 1...

The boy is too old to be a 3 year old (that's 4 years in the future minus 9 months). So an adopted son. There's probably going to be a convoluted story line with Sylar finding his mission in life to adopt and raise the little boy and stop being a bad guy. He justed wanted to be loved (sniff).

Then again you never know. Molly is played by the same little girl and is not 4 years older. I am not sure the maker of the show pays too much attention to the details as long as it looks "cool".
And the ending is again undoing pretty much most of Season 2 by having Hiro bring Kensei back, just like Sylar getting to Claire undid most of the point of Season 1...
The writer's been afraid to kill off half decent characters and ideas for ages now.

Or present Peter stopping time. How about just stopping bullets with telekinesis...you know...like Sylar at the end of season 1. Both Peter and Sylar should be able to do this. Or many other possibilities with the 2 most powerful heroes in the show....

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,864 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

Peter used to be one of the powerful heroes, but now it seems he has forgotten how to use loads of his powers, or else only remembers to use them way after they would initially have been useful.

I'd put money on it that Noah Jr is Claire's kid - we don't know what might happen - that kid's power is that he ages faster than the rest (as he gets older he'll learn to control it and not age at all), but this would also explain a quick 3 week pregnancy or something.

The writers are uncreative and dumb so the heroes are uncreative and dumb with their approach to problem solving using their abilities. Ultimately, the characters are a direct reflection of the writers.
