    Hi All

Just a quick note to let you know, that The Barbers Room is open for
business. Located upstairs in The Hub (beside the pool tables).
The Barbers Room is open from 11am to 5.30pm(ish), Monday to Thursday.

I do cuts, re-styles and colour, and also provide an ear-piercing
service. Its a barbers so its primarily aimed at guys but girls are
    welcome too.

If you call to the shop, please ask for a loyalty card (for every 4
haircuts you have, the 5th one's on me!)

    For any queries / colour appointments I'm at 086 220 4585.
    Hope to see you there.

    All the best,

    Wil

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

He charged me €15. You get a loyalty card, so if you get four haircuts over the year, the fifth is free.

If you don't tell him exactly what you want he'll go into autopilot (¿autobarber?) mode and give you a "Full Metal Jacket" haircut.

12 euro for basic cut! Abit of a rip off for a student barber

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,068 ✭✭✭gollem_1975

there is a barbers near the grand ( bingo hall ) on collins ave, whitehall which charges a 10€ if thats any use to you.

in defence of the campus barber the rent might be expensive on his premises and he doesn't get business friday, saturday so perhaps that explains it.

the general view i have heard from people is that DCU is not "cheap" for any service.

No. He's brutal. Honestly. Nice guy, but brutal.

    I'd recommend him.
Gave me the best cut in years - did have to tell him exactly what I wanted, but I was happy. Pricey enough, but sure I only get it cut 4 times a year!

If you're really stuck the Grafton Barbers (on top floor of Jervis shopping centre) do a student rate and there's places along the Quays and Liffey Street that do haircuts for E6-E9.

Definitely just go into town and go to the Grafton barbers. I got my hair cut there three times in a row and then went to the DCU barber and I was disgusted. Hated my hair.

Plus, would you rather get your hair cut by a hot eastern european girl or a camp gay man?

And they also use proper old school razors for doing around your locks and the back of your neck. It is the business!

Ive been to the barbers in DCU a good few times ,always liked the cut the bloke is alright actually ,wouldnt say hes camp though,,WTF??
.I must say I cant understand some of the comments above about "you have to tell him what you want".I mean its common sense and perfectly normal to walk into ANY barbers and tell the stylist what you want and how you want to wear your hair. What do you guys want? just walk in sit down say nothing ?????,, Duh!

No, you really have to be very, very specific with him (almost "legal document" specific). Any ambiguity or assumption of standard practice and you could be in for a shock.

What kind of shock ? What do you expect though ?? I mean if you go into a restaurant you dont just sit there and eat anything , YOU ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT .The same in any barbers/hair stylists you ask for what you want .Its that simple .
I mean theres was a post above and someone said something along the lines I dont like going to the dcu babers ,yet he went THREE times .If he didnt like the bloke cutting his hair why go THREE times ,,,LOL
I think people are getting a bit nonsensical about getting a hair cut. Its simple you go into a barbers and tell him what you want .Cant expect the bloke to know what you want can you .
Must say I have never got a bad hair cut off him ,think hes good and fast .

go in looking for a bit of a trim off the auld mop and ye end up looking like he's taken the shaver to it

    I've been to him once.
Really sound guy. Bit on the pricey side. But he spends a fair bit of time on you, since he's not very busy.
I was happy with my haircut, which is saying a lot, since I rarely am.

Maybe the guy asks you what you want as unlike most barbers where you walk in sit down and the barber gives you a short back and sides, he has an interest in what you want?? From what I can tell hes a pro unlike some of the jokers we've had here over the last few years.
I've been a couple of times when I get a chance, and I have to say the guy takes an interest in your hair and what you want.
If thats "telling him exactly what you want" - then happy days - more barbers shpuld be doin it.
One more point, surely TELLING the bloke if youre not happy with the cut would be better than just saying ye thats grand and walkin out? I mean, would u accept a bad pint in a pub or a meal in a restaurant thats cold? if so then its your fault for not sayin at the time...

Where is the best and closest place to get a good haircut near dcu these days, have a car but preferably want to be back in DCU for 10 in the morning. Need to get a hair cut tomorrow.

There is a Boston Barbers in Artane Castle too that is very good. I always go there. Is only about a 20 minute walk from DCU

Cheers, will give it a look. I don't want to be absolutely scalped, have an awful fear of going to a new barbers.

Nah it would be a younger style Barbers I guess, and know it only opens at 10 unfortunately :)

Went to the barbers up beside eurospar. Thought I would get it in in my lunch break but ended up being there over an hour and a bit, three people in front of me, only one barber.

Not really complaining about that, would be worse if nobody was there.

Anyway...really nice guy cutting my hair. Did more or less exactly what I wanted. Also talked non stop and to be honest it was one of the first times that I didn't think in the barbers "stfu and just cut my hair".

Overall, I'm pretty happy and definitely recommend him!

It was only 9 euro aswell.

Much better than what the DCU barber used to be like.

    I fully endorse Chris! :)
