parsing advanced links in text?

You know how typing anything with http, eg. http://yourma.boards.ie generates a url tag? Is it possible to add to that a bit? So say, you could quickly throw up a youtube link or an image without having to add the IMG or YOUTUBE tags?

I think he means if you dump in a link to a YouTube vid or an image it will automatically add the video as viewable content rather than the link.
