    Hi all

A friend of a friends little 3 year old became for very sick during the week,
So much so that he was transferred from Cork to Kids Hospital , Crumlin.
And this is where help is needed during the transfer he lost his favour toy "A JEREMY JET " from Tomas the Tank Engine and friends.
The child has being up and down since arriving in Crumlin, But during his good spells in has being constantly looking for the toy.
Family and friends have tried every where shops , online etc in Cork ,Waterford and Dublin to a lesser extent. With no joy .
We have found out its rare toy and going to be every hard to find.
So this is a long shot but maybe there is someone out there who may be able to help.

I'm guessing they are looking in shops so they can pick up and by online they meant online irish shops ... as opposed to 2 week delivery times from the US

There lies the main problem , They are all the large size , what we are all looking for is the "dinky size " version. Kid has the bigger ones but its the smaller version that he is attached too and brings every where.

Sorry should have stated this in OP.

Did you try the Early Learning Centre? If they don't have it locally they might be able to order it in quickly from the UK for you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,815 ✭✭✭✭galwayrush

The UK is probably the best bet in finding one.

    One word - Hamleys.

They've almost an entire floor of their London shop dedicated to Thomas the Tank Engine. You could try contacting them through their Dundrum store or you could get in touch with the London store. I'm sure they'd be happy to help.

Toymaster usually stock alot of Thomas toys.

Here are the numbers of the Dublin stores if you want to call them and check:

A train set is a train set.
    Pick one up in Argos.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

It looks like the sort of toy a lot of kids would grow out of quickly. So hopefully there's a good chance some one has one lying about at home that their kid doesn't want any more. I'll be sure to ask around.

Here's a decent photo of the thing for anyone who wants to check:

    http://www.monkeyfudge.com/images/jeremy.jpg

As far as I can tell this particular character was introduced in season 10 of Thomas the Tank Engine. Which aired in 2006 according to wikipedia... so the toy itself won't be too old.

Aeroplane is a perfectly valid spelling and commonly used in the UK and Ireland.

Would you like people to start correcting you on the spelling of centre and colour?

I'm confused, I thought I posted this already, sugar, hope it's not in some other random thread hmmm.

Wow. It's amazing what you get when you type in "JEREMY JET" galway into google. It's NSFW by the way.

I'll see if there's anywhere around Galway tomorrow that has it and maybe can post it to you if i find something?

I checked in the Smyths in Galway. They seem to have everything else but the Jeremy the Jet dinky. I'll check in the Early Learning Centre today though.

OK, found 2 different 'Thomas and Jeremy Airport Sets'. I haven't seen them but the first set has a 'dinky size Jeremy Jet' the second is slightly bigger.

If this is any what you're looking for then let me know. Both sets are behind the counter in the store for me.

I'm not long back from Crumlin hospital myself, its a hard enough place to be in without the added stress this must be causing the poor child. I can drop into a few places in Waterford tomorrow if you still have'nt had any luck finding it at that stage.

Also, I'll be heading up to Dublin from Waterford on Sunday, if I can be of any help transporting the toy just let me know ok.

Best wishes, I'll be thinkin of your little boy and I hope he gets to pick out his own Jeremy Jet when he gets home from hospital ;)

    +1

When I was a kid the only toy I had was an old orange. And it was already eaten too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,739 ✭✭✭Naos

Well Orange69, this forum would give the thread the most exposure on boards.

I understand the rules regarding choosing the right forum but before you go all Biko on it, remember this is to help a kid, a kid who's going regularly to hospital.

Sometimes the rules can be bent and this appears to be one of those times.

Good luck with the search OP.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 24,609 ✭✭✭✭arybvtcw0eolkf

Well if someone has one in or around Dublin, PM me - I'll arrange to meet you and drop it straight to the hospital immediately.

Alternatively tell me if you see it in a shop, I'll pick it up and get it over straight away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,729 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

you might also try craigslist but it could be a longshot. Im not sure how many irish people use it:

    http://dublin.craigslist.org

post an ad for dublin looking for the jet toy.

    Any update on Jeremy OP?

I got all excited and added the sig, but I may be too late to join the search.

Would he not be even happier with a Tickle Me Elmo? That was the envy of my friend's baby brother - died from fluid retention in the lung when he was less than 2: spent most of that time on a respirator :(
