  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 487 ✭✭Alibear

I thought she'd survive as she's the "main" character in the programme  Really looking forward to next Sunday's episode... Can't believe Lorcan is HIV Positive!

I know this is going to sound ridiculous but is she really dead? You know the way he kept dreaming earlier in the show - could it be something like that..it was just a bit dull the way they did it. I don't remember reading that she was leaving the show either.

If you mean the song played just before the break as she lay on the life support machine, it was "Hometown Glory" by Adele.

Well judging by the promos for the next episode, it's no dream and Dan is thirsty for revenge.

I predicted this ending and had told hubby what I reckon would happen.

    What else do you predict????

Does anyone know what the song that's on the ad for The Clinic at the moment is called? It doesn't have any lyrics. Thanks!

They really do have an attractive cast! I wonder who would win in a Daisy vs Clodagh poll? Leigh Arnold is an incredibly sexy woman.

It's a far cry from moany Fiona and scorpy Áine of olden days!

do you think A Huberman has had a bit of work done on the face. I used to think she was lovely - natural looking too. recently she's lost flesh on her face - her forehead looks immobile and the lips looking like they,ve had a little artificial plumping. So sad for a lovely girl.

I was hoping that was part of her 'corporate' Daisy look and that it is just make up. There is no way that she needs work done. The male eye candy in the Clinic is not bad either. Some very good looking doctors and the new receptionist is very easy on the eye

Oh jesus. I can't take "Fergus" seriously after he was in the McDonald's ad with Mr. Eurovision!

And Lorcan and girl-who-broke-up-with-guy = CHEESY SCENE ALERT. :P

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 81 ✭✭JaneyP

Is it just me or has this new season become very repetitive. It basically has the same storyline thread every week where one of the male cast has trouble at home with his kids. There is the inevitable sub-plots with the patients which always have uninteresting conclusions.

I dont understand why the show is considered "serious drama". It is basically a very very poor soap opera with good production values. Great music and it is shot extremely well with good cameras etc. But the storylines and some of the acting is dreadful! The new receptionist is soooo wooden! and the kid from the McDonalds ad? If these two were on Fair City or something like that we'd be laughing at them!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15 SeanOBigMan

That is complete total rubbish. It really is! You might not like The Clinic, but to say it is "very very bad soap" is nonsense! All on going drama (particularly medical dramas) are going to be repetitive to a point. For goodness sake E.R. is very repetitive. What distinguishes E.R. from say Casualty are primarily the production values. The budget for one ep of E.R. would probably pay for 10 eps of Casualty. As for The Clinic - it is FAR better than any of the UK medical dramas. In the way it's shot, the variety of characters, yes... the acting! Where is there a character as complicated and developed as 'Dan' for instance? Sure, there are always going to be plots that fail to ignite, or actors who you don't like, but The Clinic ticks more of boxes than ANY Irish drama - ever! It does. We should encourage shows like that, not begrudge anything that looks like it might actually be any good.

totally agree with Seano I would'nt miss it for anything. last night for instance. Dan at the end with he heard that Lorcan was his new partner. His face was priceless. brilliant acting. I think we should be proud of this show.

    brillant irish show

    Finale next Sunday

Last Sunday's episode was excellent. It reminded me of the old days of the clinic, especially the music used.

I think Daisy is just pissed that Dan has moved on so quickly. It hasn't been long since Cathy, Daisy's cousin, died. So I guess she's a bit ticked off. :)

    Lots of tension tonight!!! :D

I tell you, The Clinic is one hell of a series! It so is. Dan MUST NOT GO!!! Sign the petition NOW!!

Dan is great, the actor that plays him is the guest chef in next Sunday's The Restaurant.

It is very watchable show, wouldn't be my favorite but it is one of the better ones.

I thought RTÉ where cutting costs. I know Doody hasn't been in much recently but she is still a fair well known actress.

Why is Victoria Smurfit cast in anything?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15 SeanOBigMan

Maybe she's in it cos she likes it! I don't think she needs the money! Looks like it's moved up a level this year doesn't it? Can't believe The Clinic is on season 7!!

The Clinic returns for a seventh series in September with new doctor Edel Swift (Victoria Smurfit) and a new love interest for Dan (Alison Doody).

Well, i gotta say.... I think The Clinic has got off to a storming start. It is by far the best medical thing around. Better than Holby, casualty and all that rubbish. So much better. Proud its Irish.

I dont usually watch it but watched it with the OH last night.

Gotta say that the character Dan is absolutely fantastic! He's such a cad. You can see what he's thinking.

The actor who plays him is excellent in the role.

Can anyone figure out why Cara's getting a warning from Daisy in the trailer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,722 ✭✭✭anotherlostie

Maybe the recession hits the clinic in episode 2. Well there was certainly no sign of it this week between nights out, young fellas getting jobs at a drop of a hat and charity balls!

The Clinic is probaly the best TV drama show ever produced in Ireland. I hope it's being exported to other English speaking TV markets like the USA, Oz and the UK because it's definitely one of the best medical drama shows ever produced. The jewel in RTE's drama crown.

Episode 1 of Series 7 however was a bit weak IMO. It seemed to retread over everything at the end of Series 6 again. Daisy is certainly asserting herself in her new role as part owner of the Clinic.:D It's not long ago that she herself was a small timer in big trouble with the powers that be.

Why the big deal about Lorcan's HIV status? They are making way too big a storyline about it. It's 2009, not 1989.

Also, the recession doesn't seem to have impacted yet on the clinic. I would have thought that a lot of Dan's cosmetic work would have dried up by now. We'll just have to wait and see.

The woman doctor character at the charity ball Dan attended mentioning that she was on the board of medical assesors examining Dan's fitness to practice was unrealistic. In real life, she would never mention this in such a casual manner and setting. In fact, in real life she would not mention it at all to any doctor she was investigating as it would be totally unprofessional and unethical.

The Gareth Doyle character is who you're on about - judging by what she's done already in the series in the St. Michael's Hospital it's par for the course.

Most of the world don't speak English, you will be glad to hear that it is sold around Europe to our non-English speaking friends (some of whom have the same currency as us). I also believe that STV in Scotland have picked it up.

They always do this one of the weaker parts of the show. This is due to only having 10 episodes and the year long gap.

I know what you mean. I always get that feeling at the start of every series. I think it's because by the end of the last series everything has built up over time to a crescendo and inevitably there's a cliffhanger. I suppose that's the way it has to be because each series has a beginning and an end. At the start of each new one, it's almost back to scratch as the stories are established and the ground laid for what's to come. I think with this series there are so many dramas waiting to unfold though.

I don't know about the accuracy of the hearing stuff. I DO know that there was a Clinic writer on the radio saying that they had a massive responsibility to be accurate, as they were dealing with things that people were actually suffering from. So although there may be a bit of dramatic license, i'm sure it's possible that that doctor could be doing and saying what she did.
