I hope you dont mind this being in this forum, I am looking for a good mp3 player which would take the hits that a gym brings with it. Its not only for running but for weight lifting too, I will strap it to my arm which means there will be pressure on it as the muscle expands.

I hate ipods, I think the sound is crap and the layout is too. I get frustrated with it in the gym, it feels like too much work. What do you use?

i know you said you hate ipods (i dislike most of them too) but i have found the new 2gb shuffle to be great in the gym. buy some wrap around earphones and clip it onto your shirt and you dont even know its there. they are cheap too (u can get em for around e50)

Had roughly 10 mp3 players in past several years and the one I liked the most for jogging etc where you're on the move was an I-Bead. Very clear and simple to navigate menus and easy to upload music. Last one I had was 'bout the size of a memory stick and held about a Gb and that was 3 or 4 years ago. Just checked eBay and couldn't find any, then googled and saw lots advertised. Not sure who/where stocks 'em in Ireland, but am on the look out for a new one myself. If I find one, I'll put details up here. Might be under the I-River name now. Not sure tbh as just started looking myself

Forgot to mention.....bought a Sony Walkman MP3 last year and it drove me mad. Didn't find the menu folder navigation intuitive at all and its collecting dust somewhere now. Maybe I'm a bit thick !
