Maybe run a couple of Sats on Monday night in bakers. Something on the break like a tenner all in blind or something degen like that....
I'm not sure anybody's gonna want to bother with a sat for a 100 quid if it'll be a normal game.

on a serious note i did tink u played well zac need a bit of luck also too help you over line. Did your dad enjoy the day?

I went up to this tourney on Sunday with 2 friends. We paid in and were told that we were seat "B4" "C4" and "D4". Fair Enough I though. 3pm came and went, and no sign of a start, then at approximately 3.30pm they called for the start of the tourney, I went back up to check my seat number as I wasn't sure if it was me or my friend who was in "D4". I was then told "You can sit anywhere!". I was shocked and asked him again and he said everyone can sit anywhere they liked. Myself and my friends looked at each other and went over to the other side of the room. We decided not to play in the tourney because of this clearly idiotic idea that anyone can sit where ever they liked. We asked for our money back, explaining our reasoning why. He gave us our money back and said "If your not happy with the tournament there is nothing I can do".

Without trying to sound like a "wise ass" there was one very simple thing he could have done, have a random seat draw!

We were not the only one to complain about this, as we were walking out at least 5 people said that they weren't happy with this "Sit Anywhere" idea. Maybe they did not complain to the TD but they certainly complained to their friends.

From my limited time there it seemed that the organisers were far more interested in getting people playing their cash games and blackjack than in running the tournament.

There also seemed to be a lot of confusion about the "rebuy" rule. Some people thought it was purely a 1 rebuy only event i.e. Max Spend 170euro. Others understood that it was a 1 rebuy and 1 top up event i.e. Max Spend 220euro, but again it wasn't explained very clearly.

I was looking forward to the event but unfortunately I was disappointed by the lack of organisation shown. I also now appreciate how well run Stephen and JP's events are.

Agree that the sit anywhere rule was a bad idea

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,477 ✭✭✭newbie2

maybe the lads can explain their reasoning behind the 'sit anywhere rule'. i wasn't expecting it I must say. In fairness to them, i didn't feel they were pushing the BJ and cash tables too much. They also had a 5000 gtd event which Stephen never has. I felt the poster clearly said what the rebuy/top up was. i admit starting late is one of my pet peeves and i hope it'll be sorted soon. With a bit of luck they'll learn from these mistakes and have it a little more oragnised for he next one. All in all a good event and i'm looking forward to the next one. Lurker1977 can't win 3 in a row - even Johnny Chan couldn't do that.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for coming to our event yesterday in The Royal Hotel, Bray. In response to your discussion I would clearly like to state that all questions which were directed to us were answered regarding our rebuy/topup and entry fees. I also promptly replied to any questions directed through the Boards site. I would like to appologise if you were not happy with the event. In our defence it seems to be too much of a coinsidence that our only complaint stems from our competitor. In the three years that we have been running events we have never clashed with any other Tournament Director. I to agree that J.P. and Steve run a great game and both Dave and I have had great support and relations from J.P. and Steve. I would have appreciated if you had introduced yourself as Ian McDonald, Donkey Poker Tour. Respectively this is not a slagging match and I do not wish to turn into one.

We ran a game provided a guaranteed prize pool, well cabable professional dealers, hot food and sandwiches. It was open to all to come along and enjoy. Thank you for your constructive criticism.

    Kind regards Keith and Dave.
