Two Seasons in the current jersey, so I'd expect they’ll be changing soon.

They should model them on school uniforms and then they might have a chance of making it into September.

Oooooh I like that. Must get one when I'm home in Feb. Hopefully it's not a loose fitting.

Can't wait to get it now...

At first i thought "Meh" ... but after looking at it again... its not too bad. It'll grow on me after three or four games... but seeing as its a Dubs jersey it could be a year and a half before that happens :D

is it sad that I got a little excited and pee'ed a little when I saw that ?

When I heard there were pictures of the new Dublin jersey I came in with the intention of dishing a bit of anti-Dub banter (Easy now!), but that is a nice, nice jersey. Is that the template for all new GAA jersies? If it is I'll be looking forward to the Clare one.

No No Dublin are special... all other counties will have standard design but this little beauty should be reserved for dublin only... and perhaps Galway ( cause I like their colours..)

Don't hold your breath. Dublin jerseys have generally gone with their own style and not follow the usual templates used by O'Neills

I can start it if you want...
"Boo Dublin... and their rediculously nice jersey."
(As you can see it has grown on me)

    Please don't infract me :D

That is (yet another) belter of a jersey from O'Neills.

Wasn't mad about the last one but really like this one.

    That'll be bought this weekend.

Really liking the look of the new jersey... I was afraid the new GAA logo would look odd (It's a nice logo and all, but doesn't look like it belongs on a jersey) no matter what they did but it fits quite well into the design too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,676 ✭✭✭✭smashey

Well ya boo sucks to you all (apart from Deise).

As they say in the ads...

    Donegal, up here, it's different.

    We use Azurri. :D
(While the O'Neills factory is on our doorstep).

Ok,so new jersey after 2 years. While O Neills generally make nice jersies,I'll critique the new jersey.

First of all,no collar. Are they going down the route of the Armagh jersies or is it a cost-cutting operation that will increase profit margins? What are they thinking?Might grow on me just yet but it will feel odd not wearing a collared jersey in Parnell and Croke Park.

I quite like the current jersey/soon to be old jersey and will be disappointed to see it go.I think they could have given it another year but O Neills and Arnotts must seriously be hit by the recession.Oh the cash cow has come to town.Lets all flock and be used by the money making racket again.

The navy (or lack of as it appears in comparison to previous Dublin jersies) seems to be turning darker and darker with each new jersey release.

It does look very modern and smart.Definitely fashionable but I can't help but laugh at the way the stripes are laid out.So shall Coca-Cola be taking a case against O Neills too?:pac::D

As I look at the photos of the jersey more and more,I become a bit more convinced about accepting it and buying it but I don't think its too special.Certainly don't think it outshines the last one anyway or the two before that. Not happy about the colour of the Arnotts logo and its apparent size. The new GAA logo doesn't make any difference.

So I am giving this jersey the following

    Design 7/10
    Sponspor logo 2/10
    GAA logo 5/10
    Sky Blue colouring 8/10
    Navy colouring 6/10
    Collar Non Applicable
    Stripes 6/10

    Overall 34/60

Think the above mark pretty much reflects my opinion on the jersey so far.I am marginally in favour of buying it.

And while I am on the subject of O Neills and merchandise,I'd like to say the following.

O Neills should be concerned about the small business aspects of their operations. The Dublin Referees Council have had referees ordering new gear and paying for it only to be refused and refunded due to the lack of a "large scale order".Very poor form by the national GAA clothing and equipment suppliers.Just goes to show that the smaller punter will lose out because money doesn't talk. There was a debate down in the DCB between referees and the board about letting Azzurri manufacture and supply the gear but that notion was shot down because of "tradition",contracts and what not with O Neills.

Is this the case in other counties too?

Maybe you could get Dunne 22 on the back?!?

I seriously lke that jersey (Dublin, not Man City!). Normally it take while for them to grow on me, but I like that one already.

Agree that i would prefer to have a collar on it but i like it all the same. At first glance i thought it was pretty bad but it grows on you.

does any one know is arnotts are the only place selling it tomorrow or will other shops have it too?

I saw some lad wearing it today in college, so I presume so. I wasn't really sure about it at first but it's grown on me, until Xavi came along that is!:D

    UMMMM,

No, I dont think too much of it. Especially after the past 2 i.e 2004-2006, 2007-2008.

However, I dont care what it looks like as long as the players like the feel of it and get comfortable.

Im interested that they didnt keep the 2007-2008 one for another year, they kept the 2004 model for 3 championship seasons

If O'Neills change it more often they can make more money, but I am sure there is another reason than that ;)

I don't see how you can blame O'Neills here. It's up to the DCB to make all decisions regarding jerseys, with pressure obviously coming from Arnotts aswell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,598 ✭✭✭Yavvy

2 years is a fair time. A dublin Jersey tends to last me 2 years and Im ready to but another one. Also the Price isnt crazy... seems reasonable to me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,908 ✭✭✭Daysha

Waterford had the same jersey for 5 years, albeit with a few sponsor and logo changes along the way, which was far too long imo. 2-3 years is fine.

Hey everybody is a winner, well except the people who feel they have to buy new jersies everytime that one comes out (I have a wardrobe full of different jersies for the record). It is no different from loads of other teams and loads of other sports, there are always people, companies, associations etc. happy to cash in on popularity

    No bother Cruiserweight.

For the record its not too shabby but I dont like the way the seem to moving away from the traditional style.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Did ye know its exclusive to Arnotts... as in no other Sports shop in Ireland can sell the Dub's jersey (up to a certain point im sure) Was in Lifestyle in dublin the other day and they say they've been hit really hard, as usually they'd have a big share in the jersey market.
On the subject of the jersey itself... it looks great in the picture, but I have to say it looked horrible in the shop. The Blue is almost white and the Stripe that looks like its down the side seems to almost come down the middle of the jersey. I like the back tho with Áth Cliath on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,598 ✭✭✭Yavvy

think its always exclusive to arnotts for a few months part of the deal... fair nuff if ya ask me
