Really decent start to the season.

    Pleasant surprise to see
    Michael Clarke Duncan
    as a special guest.

It was a strangely paced episode, almost felt like a season finale. They really picked up from where they left off
in terms of Casey being instructed to kill Chuck. I started to wonder if this season's arc would be Chuck and Sarah on the run after the new Intersect was up and running, but it seems like normal business has resumed.

Excellent opener and thanks for the tipoff Basq.

Its worrying that a man in his late 20's paused something to get a better look at an actress half naked, but thats exactly what I did when
Yvonne Strahovski was in her knickers, it just completely caught me off guard
:D The last time I did that was for Christina Aguilera's "Dirty" video (erm)

Nice cameo from the big man and good to see a movie star like that been featured, it means the agents in TV land like this show and we should be seeing more of the same this year.

I forgot how damn good this show was when viewed as a purely popcorn 42 minutes.

    Brilliant.

Edit: Pics for no reason whatsoever

Heh... clever fan creating an Yvonne Strahovski fan site and calling it www.strahotski.com. :)

Great opening episode.. loved how Chuck
scared Michael Clarke Duncan and the goons by ringing Morgan and getting him to list out the position of the troops in his Call Of Duty formation!
    :D

And Yvonne Strahotski is teh sex! PHWWWWWWOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRR!

Lots of good music in this episode too - Huey Lewis and even Flight Of The Conchords.

Great season opener. Chuck will soon be up there with the big players such as Dexter and Lost.

Aw man... episode 2 was great fun and had so many brilliant one liners...

My personal favourite... "That furry little bastard"

Oh, and John Larroquette is the man... :D

Great second episode alright.. anyone notice a surge in Huey Lewis music this season? 2 last week, and 1 this week.

Did I read somewhere that this week's episode got roughly 5.8 million viewers? Seems down a fair bit from last season. Could be wrong!

Yeah, I noticed that about the Huey Lewis music all right, not complaining either. *whistles it's hip to be square*. What was the other song last week, only noticed the one.

Was the power of love not in episode 2? If not what was the song in episode 2?

Edit: Nevermind, power of love was in episode 1. Do you believe in love was in episode 2. I watched them one after the other so they kinda blend into the one episode.

    Ratings for 6 October episode

Not sure about last year but don't think it had a strong start. The TV guide tone doesn't read well though

It's already been picked up for a full second season, so it's unlikely that they'll cancel it mid season. It's more just next season that we should be worried about.

I only started watching this in the last couple of weeks. I got season 1 on dvd and couldnt stop watching. It's just so much fun!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

Really liking Season 2. Highlight for me was when they were in the Buy-More near the end and Chuck was appearing on all the monitors, and the henchman walked in the door behind him. Comedy gold :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,330 ✭✭✭✭Dodge

Only getting to watch it now. Absolutely terrific stuff. Only show I watch with a constant smile
(Except at the end when Bryce shows up and I screamed Nooooo!

And god damn how sexy is sarah?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

Episode 3 was good as well, really enjoying the new season.

    Yep.. still excellent!
Although did anyone else feel a bit sad at Chuck's declaration to Sarah at the end.. about how they could never be together.

Very nicely handled without being sappy..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Another great episode this week.. Nicole Richie looked very nice (although it must be like throwing a sausage down a bowling lane down there at this stage!) but was second to lovely Sarah / Jenny etc. The fight in the showers was hooooooooooooooooooooooot! ;)

Some good music too.. dodgy ones in there (Mmmbop) and some greats (Smack My Bitch Up was used particularly well) but all classics!

Chuck is, more or less, 4 for 4 this season. It definitely didn't dip in quality during it's absence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭iguana

I was worried series 2 would let me down, as nearly all shows I've loved for the last few years have. But it really hasn't. Ep 4 was the best of the series so far, imo. I actually loved Casey as the dj mmm-bopping along to Hanson.

The only let down was the missed opportunity for a Gross Point Blank homage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Episode 4 was awesome. Ben Savage aka. Cory Matthews from Boy Meets World as a guest star - how much more can we ask for. Obviously the absence of Ellie, Captain Awesome and Anna in this episode was a let down - as those characters are underused, while characters like Geoff and Lester, who are both getting more annoying by the minute are getting more screen time. Hopefully, they'll bring Anna in as an agent, as hinted by Casey in episode 3.

Best show on TV at the moment. Just a joy to watch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Geoff and Lester annoying? Quit smoking the gange! :D

    Anna isn't funny.. period!

Lester has been one of the standout stars this season as manager.. class!

Loving the new season so far. The show always manages to have a good balance of comedy and action. I like that it doesnt take itself too seriously either.
Also, I've really noticed the music this season.............great choice of songs, some of them practically MAKING the scene! :D
Nicole Ritcie wasnt as bad as I expected her to be.........

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,906 ✭✭✭J-blk

Yep, season 2 has been great so far, with the 4th episode being very good - the use of "Smack my bitch up" was indeed very well done. Really enjoying the show this season 2 though I'm a bit worried as apparently it is not doing very well ratings-wise. It's safe for now since all of season 2 has been ordered, but I'm not sure I want to end after only the 2 seasons...

Yeah still loving chuck, can see Sarah's father turning up at some stage during this season.

Yeah still loving chuck, can see Sarah's father turning up at some stage during this season.

And possibly Jill, Chuck's college girlfriend who supposedly left him for Bryce.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

Have to echo the above sentiments, episode 4 was great. They really have been four top episodes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

5 for 5... another brilliant episode. I nearly coughed out a mouthful of tea at the "Prostitute?" line.

Out of all the shows that started back this season with a flawless run, its between Chuck and Supernatural to see which of them screws up first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Thought it was the weakest so far.. but still very good!

Another example of a great use of music with Rush. And loved the Zune line by Morgan.. HA! :D

Good to see Tony Hale back on the box too!

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 18,004 Mod ✭✭✭✭ixoy

'Chuck' is probably the most enjoyable show currently airing (the best being 'The Shield'). It's just so much fun - great balance of humour, characters and plot. It's also not afraid to celebrate the nerd and did so here with 'Missile Command'.

Tony Hale was a little underused here but, as we'll be seeing more of him, I won't worry yet. Some sharp lines (as ever) and it's good to see that the B (Buy More) plots are still good.

On a side note, I went into a Best Buy in the US and, with their Geek Squad there, it's clear where Buy More came from!

Yeah, we all expected that ending but very enjoyable nonetheless!

Almost felt like an end of season cliffhanger how it ended but back next week.

PS - loved the music build-up over the last 5 minutes.. and was sure I'd heard the song before somewhere. Turns out I saw the band who sung this song (Frightened Rabbit) live less than a week ago! :D

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 35,125 Mod ✭✭✭✭AlmightyCushion

Yeah the ending was a little predictable. When it was cycling through the pictures (surely a text file with a list of names would be more practical :D) it dawned on me that she'd be one of them. Still though, very good. Can't wait for next week.

    Awesome episode.

Another great episode. And I've only now realised that the brunette is the yer wan from "The Faculty" and "Fast & The Furious"! Were her lips always so thin? (practically non-existant?!). :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Yep, Jordana Brewster is a fox.. but she looked much better in the days of The Faculty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,297 ✭✭✭Ron DMC

That were a good episode. Very obvious she was Fulcrum.

But I reckon Chuck'll see something to make him flash and realise she's bad and contact the lads.

Thank you - I had been wondering what I'd seen her in before. Must go re-watch The Faculty - great movie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭iguana

I actually thought this was by far and away the weakest episode of either series. It was poorly paced and plain odd at times. The fact that Jill was Fulcrum was obvious within the first 10 minutes of last weeks episode. And it feels like there were a lot of plotholes entirely for the sake of this episode.

Last week Chuck would have wanted to know why she left him for Bryce who was a CIA agent at the time, but this was never raised. Also if Fulcrum are rogue CIA agents, that means they would have known from the start that she was regular CIA. It was plotty sloppy from a normally solid show.

It did however redeem itself with Casey's high C.:D

Actually Iguana, you raise a good point there. But cause Chuck is such an over-the-top fun kinda show, I think I let it away with more. And they have a habit of explaining away these plot holes with casual throwaway one liners at some point :pac:

Lots of easy ones - she's in some sort of special CIA division that means Casey and Sarah wouldn't have identified her.
I'm going to go out on a limb here - she's a triple agent. She's in this secret wing of the CIA and infilitrating fulcrum, whom she learnt about through Bryce. She's looking to bring them down, blaming them for his death.
And they have a habit of explaining away these plot holes with casual throwaway one liners at some point :pac:
Yep - loved the way Chuck wondered what were the odds of Jill showing up exactly when they got out of the shower, thus making it much easier to accept the coincidence.

    Casey's high-C was the episode's highlight definitely.
