    Hi there,

Well ive been training since the start of the year and jsut about to up the number of sessions I have to include a better weights session.

I'm a runner so have 5 running session a week but will need to put in 2 weight sessions to help reduce my weight and improve furhter.

I'm was way over weight at the start of the year but now, i've dropped about 1.5 stone( not exact as weight is not important its more about speed). And improved my stamina and speed.. but need to move it to another level.

Just wondering if an AM weight session or a PM would be better, as i will need to do a double day and not sure if i should run or do weights in the morning.

    Cheers.

its horses for courses as they say, everyone is different try both ways for a week each and see how you feel. Personally I prefer cardio in the am and weights PM.

Yeah id say AM run, PM weights. I run 4-5 mornings a week and do weights 6 evenings a week. I've switched it around a few times and my energy levels have plumeted. That's me though, might be different for you. I generally do one morning weight program a week though.

It terms of benefits you can probably find studies for either way, but it's far from conclusive either way.

Generally, if weight loss is your goal, morning cardio before breakfast is best

It depends on what running session you are planning to do in the morning. The body is not at its best in the morning and so if you still want the running sessions to be the quality session then do those runs in the evening. Based on what you have previously said I'm guessing weightloss isn't your primary goal and its running and getting that 20mins off your 10k time (you've said it and you will be one to watch in 2009 because of it:)). Don't sacrifice your running by doing weights but if you want to get your weights in I'd do them AM with the less intense running session that evening as your only double day and then the other weights session PM. Alternatively, if you want to do both weights PM then do the less intense running session AM. But that means that you are relegating a running session to be the least important by just dumping it in at AM when you are not at your best. You have 6 evenings to train, rank your 7 sessions in importance and put the top 6 in the evenings with no 7 dumped into the AM of the double day.
