Using laptop as a wifi access point?

    Hey guys,
    Just wondering if it is possible to use a usb modem (3 Usb Modem) with a laptop to create a wifi access point to use with lets say an iphone or other laptop? I'm currently waiting for eircom to install a modem and heard that this might be possibe.

    eircom lock their routers.

    ive tried.
