Is 'Image' the key to weight loss?

The major aspect of film stars and celebrities is their 'image'.
To stay at the top of their profession they must maintain their 'image'.
Can you imagine opening your fridge to find a little sign saying 'image'?
'Posh' and many like her are well known for eating lettuce and miniscule amounts of unappetising foods, but that is the price they pay for their fame (and fortune).
If you want to achieve a certain 'image', then you must be dedicated to do what it takes to achieve your aim. I know how difficult it is to lose a significant amount of weight and when you do lose it, it is the lifestyle change that keeps it off. And maintaining that is very hard for the first year or so.
I've got to go now... my dinner is ready.
I'll be back, hasta la vista
    Chris.

I couldn't give a toss about Posh Spice, but I do believe that yes, it is image and lifestyle that are the key. If you are the type who enjoys mid-week pints, take-aways and the same at weekends it makes it difficult to have a six-pack:)

Right, back again... that was nice but I'm not going to tell you what it was. Mmm. lovely grub.
OK, nobody gives a toss about 'Posh' but she can't fart without it being all over the papers here. So I used her as a prime example of 'image'.
Finding a person with a natural 6-pack i.e, a person who hasn't trained or dieted, is like finding the Noah's Ark anchor... very rare. So to achieve this means cultivating a rare mindset; a severe, disciplined, totally focussed aim that will enable you to reach your goal. If you can't do that, forget it. Be happy with your fat arse and big gut because you ain't going to do it otherwise.
I lost 50lbs in four months, but I had to become a zombie to do it. Also, to maintain it I had to remain a zombie... just like 'Posh' and her kind. It was terrible, especially when I got out of prison and let loose in the shops!
Anyway, I know how to do it, and guess what? I'm going to do it again because that bloody word keeps haunting and niggling me... 'image'.

jesus you come across a bit manic and obsessive in your posts. Its only an 'image' - a word.

You lost 50 lbs in five months, congrats etc but once you put it back on then it was all a waste really. If you lost fifty pounds over a year you'd be more likely to keep it off and have an easier time doing so.

Slight lifestyle changes is the way forward. Huge cut diets and extreme mesaures may result in temporary loss but cannot be maintained.

It's only 2.5lbs a week he lost, don't think it's excessive for the time frame tbh.

yeah but thats while behaving and eating like 'a zombie'.

OP maybe it was just because you were imprisoned that you ate less/more healthy that you lost this weight and behaved like 'a zombie'...

~2.9lb when most recommend 1-2lb MAX. It depends on your original wieght, a short woman losing that much is a lot, a 6'6'' 40stone man is a different story!

I aimed for around 0.5lb per week max. I lost about 40lb of fat (probably ~35lb of weight loss, i.e. 5lb muscle gain) over a few years, I did not really keep track too much, didn't bother me. I read up and knew all about yo-yo dieting, and how resistance training would increase my metabolism. I was still eating some junk and drinking 2-3times a week.

Losing the 2.9lb a week will probably slow your metabolism. Mine probably increased and now I easily maintain weight quite easily because of it, I probably only do around 30min resistance training per week and commute to work (which is cheaper & faster than a car anyway)

That's me! I would rather have my 6-packs of beer in my belly than on it. :pac:

For a lot of people yes it is. May not be the right reason but it's a major reason.

Give me a take away and a six pack any day!
