Good stuff, openroad.... those returning characters sound interesting!

Going to split this off into a new thread as the one you posted to is almost a year old.

Ah great, one of my favourite shows:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,871 ✭✭✭Conor108

'Bout time how long was that break?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,572 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

New season every autumn, Conor.... its a long wait for such a short series. It'll be a fun 10 weeks though (especially if the characters from the article above are returning).

The idea for one of the returning characters seems like a biiiit of a rip off of 24 (if you know anything about the upcoming season 7 of that!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,871 ✭✭✭Conor108

It doesn't seem to be in the TV guide all the way up to at least September 27th:(

Yeah, I know. No mention on the Spooks site either. That interview from top gear (in the OP) was from June I think.

Spooks new series on tonight RTE 2 11.20pm. I never really watched it so I presume its series 7.

Sounds like series 6 from the writeup I saw for it, the new series wil be on BBC1/ 4 first though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,353 ✭✭✭Heckler

fair nuff. like I said not a regular watcher. In fact I just watched season 1 episode one last night on a streaming site. Very enjoyable. Another box set (if there is one) i'll have to invest in :p

You are right. Just checked tv.com and it matches the writeup in the tv guide as ep1 season 6.

Doesn't seem to be on this week either:( Season 6 premiered October 16th 2007 so maybe it'll be around then

It seems they've cut the number of episodes to 8. No confirmed starting date or time and do not click the link unless you want info on the first 2 episodes http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/proginfo/tv/wk44/unplaced.shtml#unplaced_spooks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,572 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Damn... bigtime spoilers there.... crap. :(
    Don't look.

From that page, I can see that it is back some time between 25th and 31st October (Week 44 of the TV Schedule). Exact date and time to be determined.

Can't wait for the new series.

Just as a heads up they are showing repeats (series3)on Sunday nights on Alibi ch 132 and alibi +1 ch 209on sky digital think it is on at either 22:00 or 23:00.

I was wondering when this was coming back. Why the reduction to 8 episodes though? Is it being wrapped up at all?

On a related note, did anyone watch Spooks: Code 9? I watched the first 2 episodes, but kind of lost interest. Didn't seem all that great, and seemed to be trying a bit too hard. Also, it was pretty much nothing to do with Spooks, just cashing in on the name.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Never crossed my mind to watch it once I knew it was designed for BBC3.

I see that BBC NI has got that crap Nolan programme on at 9 pm next Monday, with Spooks shifted to 10.35. Still, I suppose they'd like to forget MI5 in whatever form up there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

You are joking me? The stupid fockers, many peeps will tape it but will then have to find time to watch before part 2 on Tuesday at 9pm.

Okay, here is the beebs feedback page if enough of us write maybe something will be done sooner rather than later.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/feedback/

Here's my message, having clicked the "general" option.
    Sirs,
Will the new series of Spooks, which is broadcast at its intended time elswhere on BBC One, only be screened after the 10 pm news on BBC NI?

    Mike

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,231 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

In fact, if you've got 2 tvs, you can watch the 2nd episode on BBC3 at the same time as watching the 1st episode on BBC NI, give or take 5 minutes.

If you have a Satellite dish you should be able to tune in one of the UK BBC1 stations and watch Spooks at the regular time. You can do this through other channels on a Sky box.

I know, and I will be watching BBC1 London. I was just showing my concern for the digitally challenged. :p

BBC 1 London for me, have not watched BBC 1 NI for a good few years now.

Can't wait for this to start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,871 ✭✭✭Conor108

So this is on at 22:35 for us? Dam I though it was 21:00! A whole 90 minutes more wait!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,572 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Yeah, but now I can watch the Apprentice and the start of Dead Set.... good nights TV ahead!

    Indeed - I mean I
knew Adam was leaving, thanks to spoilers here! But I thought he was in it for a few episodes and figured he had a window to come back.
In fact I kept expecting him to pop up or limp in at the end there... Jeez poor little Wes!

Of course someone was in trouble as soon as a new agent turned up. Whenever they do they, someone invariable dies or leaves within an episode :)

TV does not get any better than this imo, Quality!! episode 2 is brilliant also.

Was Episode 2 on last night? It wasn't listed on the episode list a few posts above this one... Ah well, at least we have 2 more hours of it tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,871 ✭✭✭Conor108

    F***ing brilliant!
Had no idea Adam was leaving so that was a shock! And when Adam closed the door on Special Forces at the start, That was cool!

Cant wait for ep 2! BBC 1 NI tonight at 21:00?

Mea culpa. :o Didn't paste it in properly. Two cracking episodes. Makes you realise how very average Spooks:Code 9 was. Pity it's just the 8 episodes, 4 of which will have been shown by this time next week!

    Just saw episode one,

I knew what was in store regarding a character so not a shock, I presume that leaves a vacancy.

Good to see some good old fashioned cold war tension :)

    It has been filled.

    Episode 2 is also excellent.

Spooks just seems to get better and better.

    Just in case
I figured he was really an M15 man, Spooks must have a white Alpha Male to lead the team it seems ;)

Enjoyed episode two as well, though had to suspend disbelief that little bit more when they did their usual IT nonsense :)
Can I just say how delighted I am that Roz has taken over? I love that sarcastic cold bitch. Her rage in the hotel and then watching her coldly draw it in again - brilliant. And her cutting "Yeah well Adam's dead Joe" was a great delivery. She's probably been my favourite character since her introduction and it doesn't show signs of changing.

Harry was also great - the cold-blooded execution at the end was quite shocking. It's interesting to see him reach a breaking point with the loss of his agents. I mean due to manipulation and stuff he's already lost Tom, Danny, Fiona, Zoe, Zaff, Colin, Ruth (particularly sore for him) and others I might've forgotten and he's probably mad as hell and wasn't going to take it any more.

I'd like to see more of Joe's breakdown explored. I was never sold on her being an agent and I think we began to see a bit of this with her difficulty coping with her torture. Still not sold on Ben though (I never cared for Zaff either for that matter).

Now finally to Lucas - I wonder if we wrapped up the double-agent plot too quickly? I think Lucas will be closer to Tom than Adam - more of a cold fish. It'd make sense if he was the one who trained Tom in. It's something I'd like to see, and would be a nice way to distinguish his character from Adam whom I liked (and who was interesting to watch as he fell to pieces).

Definitely good for it to back and watching all these episodes so close to one another is exactly how I watched Seasons 1-6 :)

    So thoughts on episode 3?
Enjoyed this one - nice solid solo entry!

Interesting that, just after complaining a little about Ben above, he puts in his best performance to date here. A bit like Zaff, I find he shone a lot more working undercover. They successfully got him a bit on edge with the terrorist being shot and I liked the scene between him and Lucas where Lucas justified the kill.

Do the writers just not like Jo? More mean things happening to her - I wonder if she'll do an Adam and flip? I can't see no ramifications with this and the plea for suicide from the S6 finale.

The plot itself was the usual jihad terrorists but it's what Spooks does well. I liked having Roz in control, keeping her cool demeanour (as Harry noted). She's good at the centre of things - look at how calmly she asked for Jo to report in after the bomb went off. Adam would've been yelling down the line and racing around the room!

Finally, let's begin the guesses: Sugarhorse. What the hell is it? Something to do with nuclear weapons would be a bit too much like S6, so I'm guessing a genetic virus. It would seem to be a bit of an old secret, so maybe some virus from a decade or so ago that was going to be launched against the former USSR? That would explain the FSB's interest. Anyone else want to have a go?

Loved it, loved it, loved it. Have to watch episode 4 now!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

You just knew dear old Richard Johnson was the last man Harry should have confided in, as for SugerHorse its prolly not related to a weapon - more likely a mole. Putin works for MI5?!

Epiosde 4 was brilliant, only bad thing is that we have to wait for another week for episode 5.

Wow! Spooks just gets better and better, just watched nxt weeks episode on BBC 3, quality!

I tape BBc3 and watch it when it should be going out on BBC1 NI.

A general point - its good the Islamic stuff has taken a back seat this series.
