Funnily enough I worked with a guy one time who claimed to be ex-SC, not realising my working/drinking partner in crime is ex-ML 42 Cmdo (rubber-daggers need not apply).

BS merchants need to pick their audience

Any good Walter knows the toothpick hasn't been used since Desert Storm.

See there you go. If any of you knew what you were talking about you'd know that toothpick was the codename for javelin.....I keep a javelin in the back of our response car as it happens. I've only had cause to use it once, when a stinger failed to work. I heard on the radio that stinger had been deployed, so I figured a javelin couldn't hurt....it did the trick. God's honest :p

And I thought you were just happy to see me.

I'm always happy to see you, but my large weapon is only deployed at critical incidents ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 481 ✭✭JonAnderton

See, know if you weren't a bunch of Walters, you'ld know that the Javelin was an Anti-tank weapon and not used against ground troops...

Unless you're talking about the man-portable surface-to-air missile, formerly used by the British Army and Canadian Army replaced in front line British service by the Starburst surface-to-air missile in 1993

But which Javelin is better.... There's only one way to find out... THREAD POST!!!!!!!

    :D:D:D Very good....

Rubber daggers serve with 42 Cmdo/regular corps, as well as serving as in the SBS.

That depends. If 2 or 3 lads are comign at you and all you have is the Javelin.............

Yeah but when I pick up the Javelin in Call of Duty 4 I can only use it against tanks... are you saying this isn't in fact true.. But thats what I based all my Javelin related knowledge on before I posted??? It has to be fact???

You can serve with the regular corps from 2 weeks to 6 months.

You still have to undergo basic training and pass the commando course, which takes 8-10 months.

    Rubber Daggers may indeed apply.

    Phase II inclues.

Helicopter drills, amphibious assaults, roping skills, you can then go on to specalise as Landing Craft Coxswains,as Assault Engineers, in Heavy Weapons (Mortars) as a Swimmer Canoeist,do the military parachute course, combat medic course, recce leader course etc, etc.

Exbootie, did you read that off the website? You still didn't answer my pm.

Ayways crimefighters I'm gonna have to jet as I've an early morning hostage rescue to perform. SAS have assessed the job as too hazardous so my team are being deployed, mainly because we have balls of steel. I'm bringing my Javelin, but I'll also have my swiss army knife if all else fails (it always worked for McGuiver). Anyways, I've no balaclava so I'm cutting a hole in one of my socks which should do the trick nicely. Wish me luck.

Now if only I can remember the lingo from Rainbow 6......tango down I think was a dance move?!

    Adios!

If you hear of a lone cop taking down the whole of the subversive London anti-establishment underground movement tomorrow, don't be alarmed.. it'll only be me.

Now Ive finished building the large Hadron Collider, what else is there to do...
