pokerevents/Partypoker query

I hope it's ok to post this here and I wonder if I have a leg to stand on. Living in Ballinasloe with no access to broadband back in 2006 I was delighted when Pokerevents came to town and regularly supported their early tourneys despite situations like this:http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054936292 . Anyway they introduced their 'feeder' events in 2007 you know where they skim the prizepool for a bigger event where they skim the prizepool for a bigger event again. Anyway I gave up playing in the pub in town as I got Broadband and I supported their Friday night tourneys in the Golfclub as it was more of a social occasion and I was quite successful accumulating a few tickets worth €120 most of which I used, Eventually Pokerevents moved out of the Golfclub and a local crew took over.
Recently I found another €120 ticket so tonight I got a text saying their was €120 buy in for a ticket for the Irish open Championships, went to use my ticket and was told it was out of date.
I find this maddening, I won this money, their is no expiry date on the ticket, I rang the Eglington they say that they texted people saying that the tickets were to be used I don't remember getting this, that the notice is on their website which I don't read and that they told everyone in the pub that I don't play in. Do I have any rights here? I find the fact that Pokerevents skimming money of pub tourneys is bad enough but putting time limits on tickets is poor form and I feel ripped off. Any feedback would be appreciated.

This seems the same as a gfit voucher with no expiry date on it. According to the Independent:
    http://www.independent.ie/business/personal-finance/latest-news/vouch-for-this-1244136.html
If a shop refuses to honour a voucher that doesn’t specify an expiry date, you have the option to refer the matter to the Small Claims Court
and according tho the NCA about Gift vouchers, credit notes and electronic gift cards:
The following should apply as a best practice approach:
    (a) no time limit should be set for redeeming the vouchers,
    (b) no exclusions should apply in relation to the circumstances when consumers may use the vouchers, such as making it a condition that the vouchers cannot be used to purchase products on special promotions or during a sale,
    (c) in the event of any limitations or restrictions being applied , these should be stated clearly in the terms and conditions,
    (d) in line with the EC (Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts) Regulations 1995 the terms and conditions should be fair, not biased against the consumer, be easily understood and written in clear language, and
    (e) in the event that the store intends ceasing operations, provide adequate notice to customers to allow them time to redeem the vouchers.

    Be interesting to hear opinions....

So you won a sat ticket,
    missed the event,
    now found the ticket?
And expect to get into a new event?

Or did I take you up wrong

You think companies should be allowed keep the money?

I have a €50 voucher for the Macaus heads up tourney from 2005 or so, I fully expect it to be honoured if I ever go to Cork again.

This is not the same as going to a shop and buying a gift voucher. You are a member of this club or you should be if you are playing.

I think its bad form all the same. If they can provide complete results and prove you were entered in a tourney and the money was paid out then fair enough. But if they have not entered you into a tourney then you are entitled to your money back. Fair is fair, its just daylight robbery similar to the old Celtic Poker days otherwise.

surprised you didn't get this since they seem to text people about everything else.

If it was two years ago you got this ticket I would imagine it was for the old Wednesday night €120 FO at the Westwood. Since those games don't take place anymore, and were not as far as I recall sponsored by Party Poker [Think it was Boyles back then] I'm not sure that it's reasonable to expect it to be honoured two years later.

No harm in trying I suppose.

No, I won 3/4 tickets for bigger monthly games which never took place because of a falling out between pokerevents and the people running the game.

last year something similiar happened to me, pokerevents used to run games in clare/limerick and then pulled out. I had won a €150 ticket to a monthly game. I texted them and was told I could use it the next time they were down. I ended up using it at a qualifier for the ipc last year no problem. they actually seemed relieved that I was the only person that showed up with 1 of these tickets.

    Pat,

Ive just got Fintan on the phone (hes in Barcelona at thE EPT). There was in fact two texts sent a year ago to get the tickets redeemed etc (maybe you were off the mailing list etc) Anyway there are only 3 tickets that havent been redeemed.

As a gesture the eglinton will agree to cover your entry to one of our wednesday night tournys (value €115 and will give you the other €5). The eglinton is seperate to pokerevents (different directors etc) but we will be happy to honour the pokerevents ticket.

if you can pm us your name we will put it on our database and you can call in any wednesday night to use same)

    the eglinton

ps fintan made day 2 so the standard of the ept must be well down this year.

Thanks. I find this fair and consider the matter closed and good luck to Fintan in the EPT.
