    Hey folks

Broke my tibia and fibula bones in my left leg last valentines night. have had 2 operations first to insert an intramedullary nail through the tibia as well as 4 locking screws 2 to the knee and 2 to the ankle. the second op was to remove the locking screws 3 weeks ago.

just wondering if anyone had anything similar happen and what injuries they encountered. i've currently got a prob with my patella tendon as a result of my quad muscles disappearing due to lack of use. its been 7 months and i havent been able to run yet. its getting frustateing as i was very actively involved in football and hurling. just wondering if anyone has suffered a similar break or problem with the patella tendon i.e inflammation rather than anything else

Broke the fib and tib bone a few years ago too after collision with another player. The doctor reccommended no operations as it was a straight break in the two bones and let them heal naturally.

Had no porblems with tendons but took me at least a year to fully recover. My advice is to give it time. The older you get the slower the process. Id definately reccomment getting into the swimming pool or on a bicycle to start the recovery process. Luckily I have had no problems with mine since - just a lump at the bottom of my leg where the bone repaired itself.

The hardest thing is getting back playing contact sports. Its always in the back of your mind but with time you grow alot more confident.

    Good luck with it.
