hi, ive been doing low reps of heavy weight on the chest press down the gym. I can just about make 2 reps and maybe 3/4 extension on a third before i fail.

The problem is that I can only do that with my right arm but could easily knock out another 3 additional reps with my left arm. This seems like a significant strength difference between the 2 arms imo. I'm right handed so it seems a bit odd.

    Is this strange?

    Sounds like an imbalance alright.

If you have access to dumbbells work on repping with both arms only up until your weaker side can do no more. Gradually increase the weight over a month or two. Eventually the weaker side will be up to the same level as the stronger.

Not overly strange. I am not an expert by a long shot but is it possible you are using your right arm to do more of the work in the early reps and therefore your left is not as tired? So it feels like your left could go on?

Yup an exercise where both arms are independant (like BossArky says) may show up the truth and help you out.

It's normal enough, but it's a MASSIVE pain in the hole.

My right arm is always slower to lockout than my left and I've missed several benches in competition as a result. All you can really do is make sure you're working the unilateral stuff hard (lots of dumbbell presses, tricep and shoulder work with dumbbells and one arm rows).

I'm right handed, so like you I find it strange that my right arm's weaker. One thing I could possibly put it down to for myself is that from time to time I suffer from dormant glutes which tend to fcuk everything up in my lower, upper AND middle back.... As a result my right shoulder tends to "slip" out I'm benching, which kills any power I have, and possibly leads to my right arm being slower.

    Food for thought anyway.
