Swimming after a weights workout

    Hai guys.

Just wondering if swimming after a workout is a good idea. I'm trying to gain mass. I've done it recently and it makes me feel relaxed after i've done some weights training however i think it may burn whatever weight i could be potentially putting on. I have a protein shake straight after the workout too.

    Cheers

Actually another question while i'm here. I want to put on about 6kg, but it HAS to be muscle, putting on fat will just slow me with no benefits as i do Tae Kwon Do at any international level. So should i be eating loads of calories or should i just keep munching away on protein shakes and carbs?

I've been told that swimming can be really bad after a workout as your muscles are still warm (even if you've done a cool down) and it's not good to jump into a relatively cold swimming pool. Could be heresy but that's what I've been told.

I always swim after doing weights and I love the stretch it gives you - I always feel much stronger in the pool after weights than if I had just gone in straight ....

I don't think a bit of cardio after weights can 'undo' the muscle building you've done ..... it's not that instantaneous! :)

Swimming is the only cardio i do and its great immediatly after a weights session.Helps loosen the muscles and cool down far better than hitting a treadmill.

Cheers guys. I paid out an additional 150 euro with my membership for access to the pool and didn't want it to be a waste!!
