Good thread. TBH I'm slightly more interested in what's happening to Scotchland right now I am with the 5pm game in Mainz.

Was funny watching football focus this morning with us and the Home nations so bullish (as usual) regarding their chances of qualifying for 2010. It'll be tears all round and doom & gloom by midnight tonight :D

Very poor performance too, should be two down

Scotland have been rubbish so far. Giving the ball away constantly.

Hartley shouldn't be playing. He's a poor mans Neil Lennon. Fletcher and Brown in the centre, Maloney and Robson out wide would be far better. Maloney's potentially their star man. In fact I'd be shocked if he got a run of games and wasn't their star man.

Ah well at least Caldwell and McManus get a game to get them used to this seasons CL because unfortunately in looks like we'll have to do with them again for Celtic.

The heat is causing alot of probs for them I suspect. Was in Montenegro last month and it was roasting...Macedonia not a million miles away from there

I only can say its 36 degrees in Serbia at the moment,we are just north from Macedonia so i supose its not much colder than this down there

lol at commentator (craig Burley i think) "stone waller" penalty regarding McFadden brought down in the box. I thought the keeper got the ball

EDIT - eh looking at it I think it was! Kicked his shin first before touching ball

You can already see the difference with Hartley gone off. Brown doesn't require Hartley's minimum 5 seconds to think of a pass. Brown plays more forward passes. Brown doesn't feel the need to sit so deep. Brown and Fletcher in midfield is more than good enough to cover defensively, especially with Robson beside them.

As for the peno incident. Miller's one was a stonewaller anyway.

Ok i know Macedonia can be very tough team to play against but to win against Scotland was really unexpected....

Well Macedonia isnt that bad but judging by last qualifications for Euro i thought Scotland is in very good shape, but it seems they blew up today completely...

Macedonia beat Croatia 2-0 at home and drew in England in the last qualifiers so Scotland aren't in bad company. :)

Only saw the second half of the Scotland game but they looked poor and the commentator said they were even worse in the first half. Yikes. :o

Hopefully we'll see a bit more passion from our boys and enough quality for a victory.

Well as i said macedonians can be really tough team to play against, hard to beat them, although i wouldnt take that victory over Croatia too serious coz Croatia was already qualified for euro before that game

I know this is for European qualification matches, but Argentina are playing Paraguay on Sky. It's the game of the South American tournaments as they are placed 1st and 2nd so far. Messi yet again look magical, nice haircut on him. He looks 17 again. :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,013 ✭✭✭✭eirebhoy

Can't believe Joe Cole didn't start. I only turned it on for the 2nd half.

    Montenegro and Cyprus equalise !

Vucinic unsurprisingly for Montenegro and Alonefitis for the Cypriots.
65 mins gone in Montenegro, 38 in Cyprus.

Very sorry for Scotland. Apart from the obvious twat brigade, I know from my weekend in Glasgow last summer they have bang on fans (from both sides), theyre my 2nd team after ourselves.

Minnows holding Bulgaria/Italy....Im not sure whether to be happy or be afraid :(

Paraguay are 1-0 up now and Tevez was harshly sent off for Argentina imo aswell.

    Not working for me.

The Cypriots don't look too bad. I wouldn't put the current scoreline just don't to Italy playing poorly.

Montenegro game finished 2-2. Good result for us especially if Italy draw.

I've been watching a bit of Cyprus and Italy too and the Cypriots are getting plenty of possession. Lippi doesn't look happy at all. Come on Cyprus!

Edit: Italians putting on a lot of pressure now though.

Yeah, Cypriots are beginning to sit back a lot. I expect an Italian goal soon.

in France. The way the French fa work I guess a contract extension. :pac::pac:

PEN: Austria 3-1 France: Ivanschitz (73 pen)

Lippi could be getting the chop. I don't think the Italians will be very impressed with this performance.

If ever a man needed to be fired it's him!

Can't fire a guy after 1 competitive game in charge! Especially as his last competitive game with Italy was winning a world cup!

There will be a lot of unhappy italians though, Cyprus really are looking the team more likely to win this game. Should have scored again there.

I'd imagine they'll cut him some slack as he did win the World Cup for them and its his 1st game back. ;)
