try Tour America. Given how expensive flights have become to the west coast, their deals with the airlines become competitive, and they are bonded.

If booking direct, try and route via London (assuming a direct flight from London) - far less likely to get delayed due to weather if not routing through Chicago or NYC.

Same here.. Haven't found any deals yet..

I've been back forward a fair bit over the last few years and there's no hurry in booking for december, in fact prices usually drop by end of september/early october - there is little chance of them increasing. You should expect to pay about €550 return max. Mid summer prices are usually about €800 and I have managed to get there for €425 in december, that was booked about mid october.
One thing to do is clear your history and cookies when going directly to airline sites, i got a quote €500 cheaper (for two of us) by clearing my cookies and history and going back to the same airline 5 minutes later. I'd been watching prices for a while prior to that, so had visited the site regularly.
The best deals are usually with American Airlines, Continental or US Airways.

Last year and the year before they sorta thought the recession was wee bump in the road that could be rode out, now they see it's the real deal, so capacity has been cut and there won't be many bargains like that unbelievable deal you got last year. (I'm finding that everywhere though, even supermarkets aren't giving the deals they were last year anymore, simply because they're not stocking up as much).

Yeah, i'd heard it rumoured before, but was shocked when it actually worked and the extent to which it worked.
Basically I'd been checking the AA website for LA flights for a while, went to book a week later and prices for 2 of us had gone from about €1000 up to €1500, I was sick as you can imagine, so I tried the auld delete history and cookies, went back in and got them for the €1000!!!

ebookers seems to be the best place at the moment as far as I can see.

NewYork for €420 rtn each in early december seems a good price to me.

Actually cheaper than the same flights on the airlines website

    Hi

Looking to fly DUB - LAX on 31 July, returning 22 August. The cheapest flight I can find is $1,400. Have I left it to late or is there any deals out there?? The strong dollar isn't exactly helping either!

Thanks for your help in advance

it's late, but there weren't many deals about anyway. i am going to lax round the same time and eventually had to take €840 with continental, booked about 3 weeks ago, the cheapest I could have got was about €750 back in March when it was confirmed i had to go.

The cheapest I can see is €1133 with american airlines but that's from the 3/8 to 23/8. Skyscanner.ie throws up a few around the same price too on the actual travel dates you want.

It's also a good idea to sign up with their reward programmes if possible as you never know, another flight or two and you could end up with a free flight to NY.

Paid 1200euro return to San Francisco last December for 2 adults and 2 kids, actually the eldest was classed as an adult at 13years.

Got them for 3k for next month for LAX, they are now over 5k....
