Hillwalking

Soon the savage midges will all be asleep for the winter and it'll be time to get out on the hills.

    A couple of hillwalking hacks:

Lace your boots from top to bottom - they're less likely to come undone, and it's easy to unhook the loop from the top couple of loops to get out.

Freeze sliced, buttered bread for sandwiches. In the morning, put your filler - lettuce, ham, tomatoes, whatever - between the rigid slices and wrap them up. They'll be perfect by the time you stop for lunch.

If you take sugar, those little packets they give you with coffee in cafes are easy to carry.
