the optimum nutrition whey protein which nutrition connection sell isnt exactly cheap. 45 euro for (5lbs) when you can get the same quantity from thesupplementfactory.com for 15 euro cheaper (30 euro) !!

    am i missing something here?
Is the optimum protein that much superior to justify an extra 15 euro?

    Also,
I usually go to the gym straight after work.
Can anyone recommend any energy supplement for me, to give me a really good boost. At the moment im using Cell (Creatine and Glutamine formula) which i purchased from thesupplementfactory.com but i think there must be something better...

    Thanks

EDIT :Im just after coming across http://www.thesupplementfactory.com/p10/NRG_Blast_1.98lbs/product_info.html
Would that do it for me?

The ON whey mixes better imo, and doesn't make me feel as gassy. Plus it has added BCAA's and Glutamine (which in fairness I felt didn't make a difference). Also the supp factory stuff is just concentrate afaik, whereas the ON is a blend of isolates and concentrates. Whether all that justifies the price is up to you, but just remember they are two different products.

ok thanks for the info brian.. So is there really that much of a difference between the concentrate and the Isolates... Do you think its worth the extra 15..

I wouldn't know enough about the differences to really know if its worth it, apart from the gassyness as mentioned. Tbh I think its the BCAA's that bump up the price, and if you were going to get a BCAA supp seperately it might work out better and easier to have them in shakes, I dunno. If you don't have a need for something then its obviously not money well spent.

    Hi Brian
Just after looking at the actual ingredients in the supplement factory's protein product and i see it actually consists of both Whey Protein Concentrate & Whey Protein Isolate... Think ill stick with it to save the 15 euro..

On a side note, could anyone suggest an energy boost product for me?
I asked previously but havent received any suggestions.

    Thanks

Having tried a few whey proteins (EAS, ON, NutX - Big Whey and ProX, Musashi), I'd say that ON is my favourite. Best tasting and mixes great. I'd buy from The Supplement Store on Camden street.

Its all unflavoured but its absolutely fine.Too many people get hung up on the flavourings in these products and they're completely missing the point as well as getting charged loads more money.Unflavoured is grand and you'll soon get used to it.

If I'm putting mine in a shake, I add some cocoa to it. Nyom. Nesquik is best, but it's a lot more expensive than a few grammes of cocoa (plus some sugary product / or sweetener). Lidls cheapo hot chocolate also works well.

Unflavoured has the benefit of being easy to add to food (e.g. porridge or museli or even bread / pancakes) without drastically altering the flavour.

You are paying for advertising etc, just why many substandard beers cost more than alright ones which have no advertising costs associated with me.

It amuses me when you see some people claiming to see different "results" with different brands of protein, its only food folks, the same people would probably laugh if they saw somebody saying, "I changed from Ballyfree to O'Kane chicken, and my benchpress improved hugely."

I also use unflavoured, very versatile.

Why do Nutrition Connection charge so much more in store than their own website.

Take a 2lb tub of ON Whey Protein. In the shop its €35 but online its €22.

A 5lb tub of ON Whey Protein is €46 online and €60 odd in the store.

10lb bag is €89 online but over €110 is store.

I accept overheads are different from the different locations but come on.

The guy in Capel St is sound though.
