Have been using whey protein for a while now and was told to try amino acid supplements too. Now I know whey contains most of the amino acids you need so is there any point in taking one over the other or do you use both?

Whey contains all the amino acids, it's a complete protein.

Unless you're seriously restricting your calorie intake then no, you don't need to take them. If you feel you aren't getting enough protein add some chicken/ egg to your diet.

Meat, dairy and eggs (animal products) are all complete sources of protein necessary for muscle building so make sure your diet is rich in these sources and you should be able to provide your body with all the amino acids you need. Aim for 1-1.5g protein per lb of bodyweight a day and you'll be laughing.

G'em, why would someone take Amino Acids over Whey then? Are there any benefits of taking BCAA's as opposed to Whey?
