How were you introduced to this mess we call Boards.

I ran a search for self building on google and found a link to the Construction and Planning forum. (and sadly only found AH about a month later)

How did you get sucked in?

I was doing my leaving cert in 2005 and was in the leaving cert forum, and since then.....god nearly four years ive been posting and reading peoples posts in PI, After hours and pretty much all the threads!!

I first came across it after running a Google search for taking care of classic cars. Didn't look at it again until I got engaged, then started checking out info on the weddings part. Far more level headed people than some weddings only forums, with good info. Arts and PI then hooked me in.

Phantom FM's message board is hosted by Boards.ie so I joined in order to post update requests prior to when they went on air.

I never had any desire to be part of an online group. Then I discovered all the other fora and I was in college at the time so it was the perfect distraction in the computer labs from college assignments. Then I was unemployed for a few months so Boards provided a distraction from all the CV tailoring. Then I got a very cushie job with lots of free time so Boards provided a distraction from... the doing nothing.

Heard about it on other forums but didn't get around to signing up till a few months later to post on the Computers forum when my computer packed in.

It really took off when I went into 6th year and I found the Leaving Cert forum.

Though when I go back to college in a few weeks I will only be on Boards two or three times a week and then I will only be looking at the NUI Maynooth & Louth forum.

I can't remember how I became aware of Boards first but I got properly sucked in reading PI everyday trying to convince myself other people had way more ****ed up lives than me.

Turns out they don't really but the inanity and insanity of After Hours distracts me from my troubles!

Something legal, can't remember what exactly I needed, something about visiting the Four Courts I think, and next thing I know, I find other people who don't like mushrooms, who enjoy college parties without the annoying guitar guy, who have the strange urge to kill my boyfriends mother (maybe that last one is still just me but give it time...)

I didn't get 'sucked in' for a few months though.

Also, considering I got college accommodation here which enabled me to go to college which enable me to pass my course which enabled me to get a job you could say boards got me a job! *

* Except not really. I'm taking full credit for me getting a job.
