ooooh scary. I'd love to but I'm a bit of a wuss and would probably end up clung to someone if it was too dark. I still sleep with the light on.

Any interest in a day trip - as in sun light:confused::o

    Nah didn't think so.

Haha, it wouldn't be that bad. You could always hang outside and take pix of the Castle and surrounds.

Day trip also sounds like a fun idea, I'm sure there'll be one organized in time :)

Lol, I'm afraid of my own shadow! I had a haunted house once which makes it worse.

Any more wusses want a day trip?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,200 ✭✭✭kensutz

    October maybe second weekend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Calina

I think if someone wants to take on the organising of this, they should consider PMing 6th as I believe he was the original link to the relevant authorities in Charleville Castle. Last year's trip was iirc organised by Sebzy and he doesn't post here very often lately. Dates are dependant on what the people at Charleville Castle can accommodate.

Maybe someone could take it on board? I can't as I am absolutely up to my chin in extraneous activities right now.

    Boards Most Haunted!

oh yeah - could be tempted to this. For me, not during September but thereafter it could be a goer. I'd chance either day or night (not that i fully understand the implication - ah ignorance is bliss).

How'd it work last time around? Guided tour. Or meet at predetermined time, set off and wander about until finishing predetermined time?

Sounds like a good trip to be had.

Count me in too, as long as itson sometime about late Oct or Nov.

My first trip there was a great experience.

Well seeing as I posted the thread, I might be able to "take-charge" - I've got a few contacts alright.. I'll see what strings I can pull :)

    I'll need dates though, people..

    GIEF DATES PL0X :p:):pac:

then say when you're free for it..

Pointless until we know when the castle is available.

Though, if possible, could you steer clear of the bank holiday weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,966 ✭✭✭elven

I think Seb would still be the best person to make initial contact with, even though he doesn't post much he'd prolly still go.

Even if we look at the whole of October just now maybe and narrow it down after we find out the availability?

For those who haven't been, it usually consists of:

Arriving at the castle on saturday for about 11ish and gathering to sign those forms that say it's not their fault if we die, and hand over the money for the trip, and get a bit of a health and safety talk. Then there's a tour to get your bearings, dump your bag on a spot in the living room to bagsy your bed, then there's lots of pitchertakin, thens ome people prolly go into Tullamore to get sausages and rolls for dinner, and some people collect wood for the fire, and then there's lots of milling about, more pitchertakin, a bit of food, upstairs to watch a dvd in front of the fire, some brave souls may head outside to do some night shots, bit of sleep, then up on sunday for a bit more shooting and head home whenever you feel like it. People come down for a day trip for saturday only too.

I think this is a good time to start digging out the pics from last year :D

Deffo on for this alright too but October could be a problem with Birthdays, hens and a wedding (none of which are mine!!!) but I'll wait and see what date is available.

It's a bit bereft of castles down there. The nearest I can think of are Milford and Kanturk and they are both in ruins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,542 ✭✭✭Tactical

    :o

    Thanks.

I just done a web search myself but you beat me to it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,775 ✭✭✭Sebzy

    Ok

Provisionally October the 18th and 19th is our weekend

    - Need to get numbers of people who can make it.
    - Confirmation from the castle (Booking)

Will be the same deal as previous years

    Lovely :)

Thanks for the info. Will see about checking out these locations. Its something I've never photographed before and would be interested in seeing how I'd get on and what I'd learn.

Oh to have the time to undertake all such projects......

Best of luck to all going on this trip. I won't be making it unfortunately.

18/19 of Oct may be fine here too.

Can someone point me to what the format of the last one was? Is it the 18th or 19th or a stay over, cost(s) associated with it etc..

    Thanks.

I did a quick run down earlier on the format of the weekend - can stay over saturday night or just come down for the day on saturday. Wouldn't be much point coming down for the Sunday day only because everyone leaves fairly early on... can't remember just how much we paid though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 771 ✭✭✭Rojo

I'm 90% sure that I'll be in on this. :)
