I imagine that it means that you should register via laddies now,
or sent payment to Big Slick as soon as possible

Believe me, and I dont say this lightly, the cap will be reached. We're holding 310 tickets, reserved for off-line satts (half of which have been won already), ladbrokes are now estimating up to 200 online qualifiers (120 qualified already), and the Glen Eagle complex is now virtually booked out (Glen eagle, Brehon and appartments) by players intending to play in the festival but havent got their seats bought yet. Add to that the super satt on the night before the festival and the locals not accounted for in them figures, and you dont have to be Einstein to figure that the tournament will sell out.

I'll try to get some exact figures from the Glen Eagle group so that I can estimate how many poker players are booked in to the complex, but its pretty safe to say that if they all bought their ticket tomorrow, there wouldn't be many tickets left for sale. In fact, I dont think there would be any! But we all know that tickets wont be bought that fast, but again, we've put the warning out there.

I will come back after I meet with the hotel management tomorrow.

Am I right in saying that there is no super sat for this event as I would have thought that a lot of players would have wanted to have a go at this before buying in..or maybe not buying in.

There is a super-satt for the main event on Thurs, October 2nd, with 20 tickets guaranteed.

Is it possible to register online and pay the 850$ now and then unregister later and get the 850$ back if we win a ticket via a Satellite?

and is there acctually a realistic chance of this being sold out or will on the day be fine as every tournament says stuff like that just to make you reg early

    Hi Dom, and belfastlad,

I will be as honest as I can with ye. And I'm not doing this to scaremonger people to reg early.

    These are facts:

    1) Ladbrokes have now revised their amount of online players to 250, and they are closing online registration on Monday, September 29th at 12 midnight.
    2) We are doing 300 offline satt seats which we are well on target to achieving.(and 300 is conservative, we've 50 done here in Kerry alone with a month to go!!)
    3) The Glen Eagle hotel complex is now almost full to capacity of people who have booked for the Poker festival. Very few of these people have booked seats for the tournament yet.
    4) Ladbrokes have capped the event at 650, and thats not going to change, because they have purchased tables and chips for that amount, as well as we are organising staff levels for that amount of players.

I'm absolutely 100% certain this event is going to sell out. (in fact, if all the people who have booked accomadation went and bought their ticket tomorrow, it would be!). In my figures above, I havent included the tickets we'll be holding back for the super satt.
I'm not coming on here and saying all tickets are nearly gone, but the day will come when that will be the case.

    Don't understand.
Why cap this event at 650? If there is going to be demand for more seats why not cater for 750 players+ I think the extra 100 would just about do it.

I can't ever remember going to a big tourny not to be able to buy-in the night before...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭TripleAce

You can just register online (850$) and then if for any reason you cannot attend you can easily unregister....that's what I have done anyway.

Because ladbrokes events are all about "customer experience", its their decision to cap the tournament to ensure everything runs smoothly. I can understand the reasoning behind that. I'm sure if this years event is a roaring success, then a new cap would be set for next years follow-up.

I dont see what the problem is with paying an entry fee a few weeks before the main event instead of the day before. If its because somebody might try to win a satellite ticket, well there's no problem there, because if you have registered for the tourney, and you then go on to win a sattellite ticket, you will get one of them refunded to you.

Anyway Ian, I thought you said yesterday that you werent going to the festival?

Will there be an issue withdrawing if you have to unregister? I would have to set up a ladbrokes account to deposit but if I can't withdraw in the even of not playing but can't cause I have played no hands on there that would be a disincentive to lodge.

I'm an awkward fecker, but best to ask now :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 152 ✭✭belfastlad

so their idea of things running smoothly is the possibility of having people there wanting to play who can't and an argument starting. yes excellent as usual from ladbrokes. if the customer service in this department is anything like their betting shops then it's a joke tbh. i'm not having a go at you connie just i think this is a little stupid to cap an event like this

I can ask that question for you Dom. Alternatively, you can send a checque/bank draught to neil Kelly or me made out to destination killarney, and we'll ensure you get it back in the event of you being unable to play.

What way are the rooms done,

I won an online 1250 package, this includes a room for two,
say a friend wins the same package, ans he gets a room for two aswell.
Is it possible forus to jump into the same room, an get cash value for the room, or even to find somebody to stay there willing to pay us

Happened in the IO 2 years ago when people were ubable to play because the cap was reached. Its happening at virtually all the EPT events this year where they reached their cap. It happens at the APAT events.

I know your not having a go at me, but its not unusual to have a cap on events. Its just unusual to sell out. And if this does sell out, its not like we havent issued warnings on here. The hotel are in the process of contacting all the people who have booked accom with them to let them know the importance of registering for the tournament, so that people who are planning on travelling down for the week-end to play in the festival but might not read boards, then they'll also be aware of the importance of registration.

I think your wrong to be having a go at Ladbrokes. Their interest is in providing a quality tournament at a reasonable buy-in price. That they are doing, and in capping it, they're ensuring the playing field have a totally enjoyable experience. I genuinely dont see anything wrong with that.

Dunno about the 1st option, but the 2nd option should be fine. If you are in that position, pm me and I'll check it out for you.

Listen, I'm not getting into a slanging match with you here, you asked a question about why the event was capped, and i answered it as best I could in a way that makes a lot of sense.
Now you no longer have an arguement on that ground, so you're trying another avenue. I'm not rising to the bait.

Ladbrokes put up a guarantee of €250,000 for a €500 buy-in event, which was unheard of in Ireland (or possibly England) before for a live tourney with a €500 buy-in. If thats not spectacular, I dont really know what is.

well it was a very 'safe' guarantee if you ask me

anyway your right connie sorry for getting on your nerves. i have a thing with ladbrokes betting shops. lets just say they have shafted me a few times

No way could one say it was a "very safe" guarantee. I had people in the "know" tell me we were crazy when they first heard it! But now that its snowballing, it looks like it was easy. And until the numbers come in, theres still a lot of work to do. The term "never count your chickens" etc etc comes to mind.
Theres no harm in healthy discussion. Your not getting on my nerves, I have no probs with answering questions, and I do believe capping the tourney was the correct way to go for Ladbrokes, as its the quality of the tournament their interested in, not quantity. If it sells out, its still gonna be a pretty huge field.

Look forward to meeting up with you sometime,

You will of course get the value of your ticket should you win a ticket in a sattellite and have already purchased a ticket.
If you want to pre-register for the super-satt, you can do so if you like (but not on-line), but theres no real need to pre-register for the super satt. You can do that on the night.
