    Hi,

What is the best way to cycle from Blanch to Finglas without being killed. I often see people cycling on the N3, surely they don't cycle across that roundabout to go to town.... Please advise..

Post this up in the cycling forum, plenty of commuters there who will advise!

Thats a difficult one to be honest, they've closed lots of roads while they're doing roadworks so they've actaully bypassed what used to be a shortcut!

I don't do that run, but I do several others with big roundabouts. If the roundabout has traffic lights, they are a piece of cake. If not, just make sure you are in the right lane and signal like crazy. As long as everyone sees you, you'll be fine.

At least on roundabouts, people are not going that fast. The ones going up slip roads to the motorway are a pain.

Survival tip: If all else fails and you have to manage a junction with a lot of traffic, take off some clothes. There's nothing like a bit of bare skin to make motorists take notice.

    From Blanch village.

Go towards the Bell. Follow the road that would lead you the large roundabout near blanch hospital, before you reach the roundabout there is a split in the road for people driving the opposite direction to turn left, cars cant turn right here but you can... follow this road until you reach the bridge thats beside the car-park for the 12th Lock restaurant, take a left onto the path beside the canal and follow the canal underneath the M50 roundabout (thus avoiding all the traffic/crossing the roundabout) keep going on this until you get somewhere near the Travelogde hotel, get off the canal path there.

Going from the travelodge to Finglas.

Coming out of the travelodge, turn left, follow the road until you see a small turn off to the right, its just over the hill near the travelodge, take this road - its a small road, the Coolmine Rugby club is on it keep going until you come to the bridge to cross the Tolka, its a good distance. When you get to bridge, cross it turn left, go up the hill, turn right there onto a wide road that runs alongside a housing estates to the left and a few football pitches on the right... keep going until you reach the end of this road, take a right and you'll be near Bon Secours Hospital Glasnevin, I think you'll be alright to get to wherever youre looking for from there.
