    Hiya folks.

All this talk of different numbers is confusing me!

    Diagnosed with level of 17.

    Six months later:

Latest blood 7.9 with Hbac number just gone up from 68 to 72.

Anyone point me in the direction of understanding this. There is so much info out their I am getting lost !

    Thanks all.

The 17 and the 7.9 are numbers on the same scale and that is not changing. These are numbers that indicate your current blood glucose levels and will change constantly throughout the day.

The Hba1c numbers of 68 and 72 are on the new system of measuring Hba1c. Here is a basic table showing the old and new scale of numbers:
    http://www.diabetes.org.uk/Professionals/Publications-reports-and-resources/Tools/Changes-to-HbA1c-values/?gclid=CK783sufmbACFTMetAodaHBc3Q
Hba1c is approximately an average of your blood sugar levels over the previous couple of months and under the old scale we were told to aim to get that number below 7.0.

Went from 151 (or 16% in the old money) 3 months ago, when in hospital and first diagnosed to 49 (6.6%) today. I'm delighted :-D not anxious about seeing the consultant now at all!

    Hiya folks.

Well, I am still new to this and just got my latest test results. Under a gp's care. No clinics or consultants or anything (yet!)

My HB thingy is 61, which is down from 72 (can you tell I am learning?):D
My other reading is 5.2, which is down from 6.1

I think thats good, whats your opinions? Please consider my blood was 18 when this started......
