The posting of weight amounts.

    one thing i am unsure of when i am reading posts on the forums is whether or not people include the olympic bar in their weights.

    so if someone says they bench 100kg they really mean 80+20 for the bar.

    just want to clear that up as i tend to ignore the bar as thats a given and just count the weights.

    This just came up in a discussion i had with someone.

    Include the bar and if you're posting on T-Nation be sure to multiply all your lifts by 1.75.

    If you did not include the bar then many people would start out doing exercises with negative values!

    It also messes up any % increases you are tracking. e.g. going from 10kg plates to 20kgs plates would seem like 100% increase.

    Also check your bar really is 20kg.

    A real danger would be people at home used to a hollow 2-3kg bar going to a gym and loading up the same plates and then benching with it.

    Another q which kind of relates to this subject!
    When people on here mention there bench,sqaut and dead lift amounts how many reps do you need to be able to do to realy claim that lift?
    I only claim a weight when i can do 6 reps min!

    I presume that people will specify if they're talking about any more but if someone says they have a max of deadlift of 150kg it means that they can deadlift 150kg once.

    Yes, always one, unless otherwise stated. People call it 1RM, 1repetition max.

    I never really train my 1RM, so if I want to compare I just use a rep calculator to get an estimate, www.exrx.net/Calculators/OneRepMax.html

    e.g. for those crossfit guides.
