Played this today and managed to cash nicely.. with a weighted deal done 4 ways due to time pressure on some of the players.... nice little tourney with 2 tables and decent food and friendly atmosphere....

Will go back agiain.... well kind of have to as I now have a ticket for next week.....

dealer standard was excellent (too good as he spotted I hadn't put enough into the prize pool after I got dogged in an all in pot ;) )
10k starting stack was nice and 30 min blinds worked well until near the end with the blinds doubling every time but the game did need to finish...

missing the 150/300 level and jumped from 500/1000 to 1000/2000 and 2000/4000 and then 3000/6000 but with the 30 min levels it seemed to work ok but I wasn't short on chips...

Played the cash game after and it seemed ok too... wasn't mad about the rake cap but it was very clear and transparent with a "rake sheet" available at the table and adhered to perfectly.... was fine for the stakes we were playing but could get a bit pricey if very deep with large pots....

Anyway.... Poker Room gets a thumbs up overall for my first positive experience there

lol yeah it was a nasty one alright.... but as cooker says... well used to them... it wasn't even really a river suckout but a perfect runner runner straight leaving a middler and a middler only for the river.... managed to run ok and win a few races with my 5's holding against AQ to double me into the chip lead

    which player were you tm?

I was either in seat 8 or 9 wearing the cap (not sure if 9 or 10 at final table); 2nd last before dealer.

And if I can play (and win :D) like Dan Harrington then absolutely no offence taken.

See you at the tables again soon.... :D

Hi Just to let everyone know that we are making some changes to our Friday afternoon game.

    1. We have added two extra blinds 1500-3000 and 15000-30000
this will give even more value and play to an already deep stacked tourney with 10k starting stack (12k) if you get the early bird bonus chip and a 30 minute clock.

    2. As a commitment to offer the best value for money for our tournaments we are adding money to the prize pool in the form of scalps.

So the buy is €55 + €10, but instead of the €10 going to reg, we are going to put €55 of your buy in the prize pool and give you a €10 scalp chip as well. So at the end of the tourney you could have €100 in scalps as well as part of the prize pool. Also the scalp chip will add a little edge to the game.

Hope to see you Friday before 2p.m on Friday.

The Poker Room, Top Floor, Atari Expo, The Square, Tallaght, Dublin 24
Next to the Laus, info on 086-2301229

Also free reg for Students and Casino Employees and as always great food and drinks inc Free beer.

    Hi ross
Is this supposed to read 150-300 and 1500-3000. As this would add more play. Has the tournament ever gone to 15000-30000 level before.

    hi ross
might play this later, just wondering is there parking? and do you have to pay for it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 636 ✭✭✭The Poker Room

The Square is a very large shopping center. So there is lots of free parking adjacent to Atari Expo.

Thanks hope to see you there,

Early bird bonus of 2k in chips if you pay before 2p.m

I know ross was gone when it was happening... 5 of us left and these 2 guys said out loud a few times no point in knocking each other out... most ridic hand was when player A had 2 pr and player B checked behind every street with the flopped nuts...

No pretty to see.... but I'm sure Ross will keep an eye for it this week...

they knocked each other out eventually..... when player A shoved and player B apologised loads of times before calling him

anyway one more go and I'll see from there

Well for what its worth this week was my last time playing up there...
Early bird chips still given to people arriving late.
Worst gameplay I have ever come across.
Todays game was a €65 bingo game with any 2 cards calling any raise .
I have seen better play on an iPoker freeroll.

LOL, i really can't understand people complaining about players calling raises with any 2 cards. This game sounds like incredible value and i'll hopefully make an appearance sometime soon. Even if it does bring me back to the plae where I was robbed for £3 when I was 11 by a tinker in a leather jacket.

Koolkid, lay off the negativity with the PokerRoom. I've hardly ever played there, I curse them whenever I get their annoying texts but at the same time I can appreciate as a poker player how lucky I am to have tournament organisers in Ireland trying their best to make a go of their business by adding 10% to the prizepool, providing free drink & grub and coming up with attractive tournament schedules all to appease us, their punters.

So Koolkid, you've made your point in previous threads, so please just change the record.

Unfortunatly not every one who plays poker is up to a certain standard.

From what i have heard from the people who played, most people enjoyed the game.

Good luck Tom in your quest.

Just wanted everyone to know that usual tournament is on tomorrow at 2p.m

The 2k Early bird chip is strict and you must pay in prior to 2p.m to use it, also the tourney will start at 2.15 sharp

We had 20 runners last week and its a good game, with 10k starting stack and 30 minute blinds.

    Hope to see you here.

    The Poker Room,
Top Floor Atari expo, The Square, Tallaght,

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 636 ✭✭✭The Poker Room

    Usual game tomorrow at 2p.m.

Deepstack holdem. 10k starting chips and 2k early bird chips if you pay by 2p.m

30 minute clock and 3 blind levels added, so if you play poker this is the event for you.

usually 15-20 runners, good standard of play and we will add 10% to the prize pool.

Its €55 +10 reg. (most of the reg goes back into the prize pool) and Students and casino employees don't pay reg.

Free toasties and obriens sambos for lunch and beer (if you like drinking in the afternoon) and minerals and hot drinks.

Good way to spend Friday afternoons.

The Poker Room, Top Floor, The Atari Expo, The Square, Tallaght. (next to luas) 086-2301229

    Thanks Ross.

A couple of questions on this ross.
Last thime I played there the early bird was still paid after 3pm.
IMO standard of play is questionable at best

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 636 ✭✭✭The Poker Room

I have taken the comments on the early bird chip seriously and it is strict now after 2p.m and you don't get it if your late.

The standard of play depends on who's in the room on the day, Some players are good some are not so good, the structure is such that the good players should have the best chance of winning but there is nothing guarentees in Poker.

    Thanks ross.
