Clean & Jerk Technique

    Guys,

Trying to learn the Oly lifts and while the Snatch is progressing well I am having a problem with the C&J. Specifically the position before the Jerk. I have the same problem with Push Press.

Not sure how I am supposed to be holding the bar just before the pp/jerk. After the clean the bar should be resting on your shoulder area and basically you are in front squat position with hands. So how do I get to the jerk/pp position. What is the PP hand grip position exaclty ?

The bar tends to be way to far back in my wirsts. For the Jerk do you re-position to the same as the Push Press ?

    Cheers,
    Brian.

Yeah if you watch any of the lifters in the olympics a lot of them when they come up out of the clean the bar bounces a little which lets them adjust their hands to the jerk grip

You can see mathias steiner olympic heavyweight doing it .
Most people jerk with their elbows pointing down but not everybody the drive comes from your legs not your hands/arms

Cheers. I suppose the jerk and push press are quite different really.

Push Press you dip and drive but use your arms to push the bar overhead.
Jerk you dip and drive but you don't push the bar overhead, you push yourself under the bar.

So with the jerk and am not driving enough and getting under the bar enough.

    ok Im no expert but

    1. press you just press the bar straight over head from the rack position using your arms and shoulders. The legs do not come into it.

    2. Push Press
From the same position You dip and drive the bar but only to about forehead level and press it out from there.

3 . Jerk , from the same position again dip straight down and drive the s**t out of the bar and drop under it into the receive position with arms locked out.

    Hope that helps.
