Pardon my ignorance, but what is a mewtwo. I assume it's some type of Pokemon.

Very strong pokemon, could be taught lots of attacks. In the right hands its a tough one to take down in the first games because the element system was broken.

Should probably mention I never actually played Pokemon. I did watch the show though. I liked Jigglypuff.

Oh yeah, I didn't play the game but I loved the show. Jigglypuff was one of my favourites too, but that may have something to do with my penchant for karaoke :P

I just enjoyed Jigglypuff's reaction to criticism.

I went to see the first film in the cinema. I was a big Magicarp fan and he had a cameo. I was sooo chuffed.

I saw Pokemon in the cinema too - was walking in with my (then) housemate and his 10 year old brother, tying up my hair wearing a Slipknot "People = Sh1t" tshirt and the usher guy took one look at me and we both started roaring laughing. :D I played the game a few years later and you know what? It was a *really* good game and worked very well.

I feel I must argue a point though. Terry Prachett is a mainstream comedic writer who deals with non-mainstream stuff in his books. I feel devalued as a nerd to say that just being a Prachett reader makes you one. However, there's a further investigation to be made here...

To read one is nothing. To avidly collect them and read them all is nerdy :D People in this thread is therefore nerdy as I happen to know they are Prachett collecters :) Personally, as well as most of the Discworld books, I started on "Truckers", "Diggers" and "Wings" - evening using "Wings" as a reference novel in my Leaving Cert :D I also own the Science of Discworld books (think a funnier version of Bill Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything") and I have the most excellent "Art of Discworld" put together by Prachett and Paul Kidby - I will be taking my Sam Vimes tattoo from that book (yes, I wanna get a Sam Vimes tattoo, he's my favourite character by a long way).

I have read all of the Discworlds, own Art of the Discworld, am working on acquiring science of the Discworld, and even read the Johnny Maxwell trilogy. Now did any of you read Good Omens?

Endurance. Funnily enough, two years later i got the gameshark, and used it to unlock mew. Unlocked pokemon are usually weaker with their stats than proper ones.

The trick is,i had pokemon stadium, saved my best captures on it,then restarted the game another 5 times.

Ever fly to another country just to see an exhibition of Josh Kirby's discworld art?

Put that in your smoke and pipe it :D

There's an argument without a nerdal strain you wouldn't find Disc books funny. Especially the early ones which relied much more on the situation than the characters to be funny (the witches bashing gollum on the head)

I'm a big Pratchett fan. Guy's a legend. Brave fcuker too.

Must say, I had a serious thing for Pokémon as a kid - it was a cracking game. Simple but very effective mechanics.

Also, I loved how Japanese the plot was - children capture wild animals and make them fight. What the fcuk!? That is seriously dodgy. What kind of message does that send to kids?

Ahh! Witches Abroad! Nanny Ogg rocks. :D

There was a good interview with Pratchett in the Irish Times a couple of months back. http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/features/2009/0109/1231405998627.html

It's based on the bug-catching culture that exists in Japan. People catch bugs, make them fight, simple as.

You never told me about that one!

I wasn't a fan of Science of Discworld, but I think it's just because I read fiction almost exclusively.

My first Pratchett book was The Carpet People, then I discovered we had Truckers, Diggers and Wings in our 6th class library and I devoured them :) Loved him ever since!
