Banned for Boobs?

Just looking for clarification on what is considered NSFW / Porn, I was involved in a thread the other night, discussing what kind of women you are attracted to....I posted a link to a topless girl with a heading..
"boobs are present and will probably corrupt our tiny minds" I also tagged the link as NSFW as we were talking about suicide girls at the time and the link was a picture of a suicide girl, I thought it would be ok, her boobs were exposed and nothing else...
It was not porn so just wondering shoud I have got a weeks ban over it.....The mod invloved even acknowledged that they were a crackin pair..

Boards is a site for 13+ (iirc) and images of naked breasts are banned, even on private forums.

Was it tastefully done like a Playboy centrefold or tastelessly done like Kathy Bates in About Schmidt? I think that makes a huge difference.

Still at least it wasn't a spider in the bathtub.

It's up to the owner of the private forum as to whether they'll allow those kinds of pictures or not.

Afaik, the policy on NSFW pics is it's okay to link to most NSFW pictures (within reason) as long as you tag it clearly as NSFW. It's not okay to embed a NSFW image in a post.

For example the previous post just earned me some strange looks in my open plan office, which I'm not too impressed about.

Dumb ban. If we were talking about an actual image embedded in the post, then fair enough, but banning for a link (particularly a clearly NSFW-marked link) is retarded.

Afaik the policy has always been no porn/nudity with naked breasts being the starting point.

In your case don't think a ban was warrented, a warning and removal of the image would have been enough.

I was under the impression that Boards could never allow porn on the site - as you have to be over 18 to view/watch any type of porno and this site is open to 13+

yeh sully is right tbh, but i think if the image way edited to take out the nipples it would have been fine, seen that type of pics on boards all the time.

This is a fair point, it references "newspaper" nudity, which is what that picture is in fairness.

Selective reading doesnt help your case

The first half of the post says posting of general born is a serious offense. It then goes onto say if its just mini porno that you might see in non-over 18 media such as the paper (excluding page3 of the sun) then it must be labeled.

I highly doubt ill open the Irish Times, The Indo or The Examiner and see that type of picture!! Shes completely topless.

There was a local Kerry or Cork newspaper that published a picture of a Gaa player who's erect penis popped out of his shorts during a game a year or two ago, but I definately won't be posting any links to that!

My interpretation of the charter is that you mark something as NSFW if it's a link to a non-porn article/image on a website that is likely to have some porn elsewhere on the page. If you know you're definitely linking to porn, then you probably shouldn't post it at all.

Anyway, it doesn't matter exactly what the wording means. You violated the spirit and intention of the charter if not the letter of the law.
