    Hello and Welcome. :pac:
Hey poxy, its not a bad year really (though I am glad its over!), I knew id see ya on this board sooner or later.
Most people don't really start studying till after the pre's so I wouldn't let it bother ya too much.
I recommend going to grinds on a saturday in Limerick tutorial and for study classes, really helped me.

Only came across this place a few weeks ago + i'm so glad i did!! Its been so helpful already....it's really made me think about how hard i have to work this year....not that i'm lookin foward to it or anything, but i have a fair idea of what to expect now.

I'm also really glad to see i'm not the only one kinda freakin out about goin into 6th year:p

    Hullo woeful people.
Odd that it's quite possible some of us will end up in the same courses maybe next year...
    dun dun duun!

    It's possible!!

I can't wait to get it out the way though, I don't need many points for my course so I'm hoping I'll get it lol. Ah well, year away yet. =]

9 months of school WOO.. then exams.. but then WOOO! xD

Im pleased to meet you all lol :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,626 ✭✭✭timmywex

Ohohohoh, heres the plan, im not going to spend much time here, im going to spend it studying! But lets be honest, that just wont work......its worth a try, so if you dont see me, thats where i am...in my room.....probably bed rather than studying though!

    Welcome.
Best of luck to ye all.

Ill be leaving soon........:( the end of an era and all that.
It will be weird not to have to think about the LC again.Ha but tbh its also a pretty good feeling;).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,176 ✭✭✭1huge1

You'll probably find yourself coming on here and reading through topics about people who are on about finding it hard to study, you'll be able to relate to so many people here that you'll become more and more addicted as the months go by...
Well thats what happened to me, finally starting to move away from this addictive yet very helpful place.

Dear LC Students,Welcome to the most stressful year of your life:(....(so far):(:(
Not being one to discourage,I wish all of you the best of luck in the upcoming year.Believe the hype its horrible.:D

My best advice to you would be to do a little bit every night, especially with regards to languages. When it comes to English poetry, make sure you write a PERSONAL response.

I'm writing this reply while anxiously awiating my CAO offer:eek: so I know what I'm talking about.

So good luck and enjoy,it only comes once.

Wow, you lucky lucky people, i only found this place in May last year, so i had about a month of helpful addiction before i had to cut the wires!

(new username etc.. old account just HAD to be deleted for the sake of the LC!)

Make wise decisions, use your initiative, and LISTEN TO YOUR TEACHERS!!

Also, when you feel like no-one else you know understands you, log in here :D... At least reading the endless posts about others and their apparent lack of study will make you feel like you're actually doing something with yourself!

Anyways, best of luck LCer's of 2009, it's only nine months of your life, a bit of hard work pays off!!

Damn going back to school so early, going to a gig the night before, Wednesday will not be pleasant. Going back early will be worth it though, with our monster St.Patricks Day weekend.

Same. My friends all say 6th year flies.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 82 ✭✭Niamh-17

Yeah i heard 6th year goes very fast but I also found 5th year went very fast as well, but i was looking back over everything we have done and its true to say an awful a lot of stuff is covered in 5th year and 6th year is spent mostly on revision.

I found 1-5th year all passed very quickly for me!

What exactly has people stressed at this stage? Is it feeling not smart enough? Not having enough time?

Well as far as time goes you have from End of August/Beginning September til June 2009, same as everyone else so you have plenty of time if you start studying right away, and if you're really very worried you can do some study now towards the end of the Summer, if you put in work from the start you wont feel pushed for time :)

How have you done in school so far, have you done well? Are you looking for high points? You might be really underestimating yourself!

Hate dah, I'll be relaxing on a beach in California while yizzer all in school.

    I mean, uh...

There's already a thread about advice so I won't go into a "how to approach studying" rant, you'll be sick of the word "study" by May next year, believe me.

However, don't freak out! 6th year is good fun. Your teachers treat you like humans, you'll probably find your year group bonds in weird, possibly-stress induced ways, and walking out of secondary school for the last time is a great feeling, once you get there. Yes, the year will fly, but so long as you don't let it overwhelm you, you'll probably do grand. Even if you don't, it's not the end of the world. The media hypes those exams waaay too much.

Do you really need 550-600 points for Art though? Or is it just incase you get low marks on your portfolio?

If you do well in the portfolio that should take some pressure of points-wise.

Basically, you study general engineering in first year and then you can choose which area you want to go into (civil, mechanical, electronic etc) it means that you dont have to choose when youn go in directly, meaning you can change your mind, and figure out what the courses are actualy about! Its higher points though!

Ah lots of work! Well when you find out if your portfolio got you into NCAD then you'll know if you have to work super hard or if you can ease up a bit.
