KEEPING MOTIVATED?

I want to get fit but motivation is my major hurdle. I go on my treadmill at home as I am not confident enough to go out running or go to a gym but it is a nightmare. I can honestly say I hate it, there is nothing to enjoy about it. I hated running at school even when I was fit let alone now when I haven't run in 15 years and am 2 stone over weight.

    Any advice very much appreciated

i had the same problem as you..when i started trying to get fit at the start of the summer the thought of goin for a run made me want to cry!!but what i found helped was to think bout why i wanted to get fit, what goals i wanted to achieve. I had just started kickboxing and getting fit and improving my cardio so that i cud be a half decent fighter was what i though of when i needed to be motivated and after the first few minutes of running(which are the worst!!) i eventually got to enjoy it.So i know it sounds retarded but just keep your aims in mind when u feel like you dont want to run and u'll be right up for it....also make sure you bring an ipod with some music to pump you up..i found a nice bit of slayer always worked!

Find something you enjoy then. you might enjoy weight lifting, swimming, cycling, hill walking, football, basketball, skipping, etc.

if you dont enjoy it, you'll be forever making yourself do exercise. it shouldnt be a chore, it should be something that you look forward to thats good for your health.

    :)

I myself have gone through periods of trying to get fit. I do it for a few weeks then settle back down into the armchair and have a beer instead.

This time for me it is different. Im at it 2 weeks now . Im off the fags 1 week and I am training to start boxing next week.

I am hoping that bringing sport into the equation, I will be abble to keep my motivation up.

My goals are to get rid of my back pain, learn how to fight, lose weight around my belly and stay of the cigarettes.(diet later. baby steps)

I dont know if this advise is any good as im a bit of a novice, but hope it helps.
