Mocks vs. LC

So how did everyone's results compare to their mocks??
Everyone was telling me that you can only improve by a maximum of 100 points after your mock exams...

I didnt do many mocks but the ones i did went-English C1 to A1 and French C2 to B1.

Skillz, OP, skillz.

I went up by 90 points from my mocks... saying you can only go up a max of 100 is silly, it depends entirely on how you've been working/will work, etc.

Went from 390 to 500. Thats 110 points which goes to show how f"£$% up the mocks are

You can't really compare the Mocks to the real thing. Some mock papers don't even reflect the syllabus.

I went up by 105 points. Biggest jump was from a D2 to an A2. All year I'd been thinking that teacher had been marking us ridiculously!

I went up by 75 points, from 430 to 505.. Think the biggest change was in Maths, D1 to a B2, which I'm rather pleased with. I went down from an A2 in Music to a B3 though, oops.

I went up 30. Best English C2-A1. Went down in physics, A1 to A2, which I completely deserved. However they corrected physics was a joke, I didn't understand a word of that course.
A good joke though.

when i opened my leaving cert results i was over the moon i got 450 and i was gonna be happy with 300 but then depression hit..
i rechecked wat i put in my cao and realised i cant do 5/8 choices on my cao because i didnt achieve certain grades in certain subjects. I dont want my first two choices now and blah blah i bascially made a b0llix of it all!!! I know my only option is to wait a whole year and reapply for the cao with a proper list of choices (i must have been langers or something applying this year) but is there any other way into courses avoiding the evil cao???

I went up 85 points when I thought I'd stay around the same.
Went from a D1 to an A1 in physics. Still think they must have made a mistake but I'm not complaining.

Aw that's an awful pity Are there no level 6/7 courses that you'd be happy doing? Don't panic until you see your offers on Monday.

There are various PLCs you can apply to do outside the cao, you might find something of interest at www.qualifax.ie ome colleges will let you go into college with a good PLC instead of the Leaving Cert.

you all seemed to have gone up really well...
unfortunately for me I was the opposite..
I can't remember all my mock results,but here's some..

Mock..........Leaving
English- B1 C1
Biology- C2 E->I worked my ass off in bio!!
Irish - B3 B3..dunno how it ddn change!:(
AgSci- D3 C1..tot I did much better than that!
Geog- B3 C2
French- C2 C3
Maths-C3 B3

So as you can see I went from a total of 410 I think to 375..:(
I am so unbelievably gutted...Haven't enough points for ANY of my courses,didn't fill out any level 7's because none appealed to me!:(

I'm gettin pretty much all my papers rechecked..I'm shocked at biology,I know that exam wasn't my best,but it didn't go that badly either!And as for English,I was convinced I'd get an A in that because it was my best subject.

Anybody else in the same boat?
I'm stil in tears over my results!

went from like 310 or less to 525, mocks were a disaster though, had **** teachers in alot of my subjects so i skipped app maths one coz i literally knew like half of one question and failed tech graph because i only knew q's from paper one went to b1's in both with a bit of work on my own though

So I went from 570 to 600.

I think saying that you can only improve by 100 points is bull, it really depends on how much work you are willing to put in yourself!
Also, we all know that the mocks aren't that reliable - from asking things that aren't even on the course to being marked completely ridiculously, I yhink you should take the results with a pinch of salt. :rolleyes:

i went from 505 to 525 so no huge difference there but to be honest i didn't really deserve to go up cause i only need 400 so i kinda relaxed after tha pres, oops!!!!! i'm really annoyed with french though. went from an A1 to a B1. dunno what happened cause i thught it went really well! Tear:(

Went to english grinds had a ten page literary genre question learned of by heart had 20 othello quotes and a fairly good enough grasp of answering the actuall questions asked?? really dont know why I got a C2 i was hoping for a low A or B??

Its annoying that Art and Music are marked on one persons opinion on how good or bad i sang or played or whether my practical was art or not...........hmmmmmmmmm

2 medicine candidates in our year got 580 and 590 respectively in the mocks,

real thing: 545 and 505, very disappointing.

you see i did a portfolio for an art college nd got 260 add that to my lc points and got like 705. the coure is 780....
I got an A1 in the mocks Art and B1 in the leaving so I thought id get higher in my portfolio and get my 1st choice therefore throwing down any thing underneath that...
now im f***ked I couldnt bear missing out of 1st year college with all my friends and be stuck 3hours away from the city.(thats how far the drive is:(
but then again missing out on one year is better than doing a four year course that I dont like........
yeah I better look into plc courses but if I put a Course I wanted second knowing that i would be clear of getting it by 50 points is gutting!

MY ADVICE TO ANY 5TH YEARS : spend time doing your cao and expect the unexpected :(:(
